Just put new continuous chain on and new front and rear sprockets cost a small fortune..just spun the rear wheel to

set chain at 40/50 mm and still got 3 tight spots on the new chain..

is that normal or will it settle down after a few miles?? First chain I've done so appreciate any advice..

Cheers

  Wanted Givi e34/36
Posted by: ajmes1 - 06-03-17, 09:24 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (1)

Bit of a long shot here, but I dropped my fazer in a muddy field on the dragon rally (huge embarrassment there but another story!!) bike came off ok, but the pannier not so much.

Limped home with a bit of duck tape plugging the 3" hole, but before fibre glassing it and making do, I wondered if anyone had an old style e34/36 pannier knocking around that may be surplus or even damaged that I could poach for spares.

  help! strange noise
Posted by: shieldr - 06-03-17, 09:15 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (36)

Hi, riding home tonight on my 02 plate fzs600 and started to hear a strange pinking raspy kind of noise. When I open the throttle hard it sounds like a piece of tape is in the front wheel spokes/spars. Looked for something loose but there is nothing. When I got home and removed my lid I would say the engine is sounding way more clanky than normal. The oil is half way up the sight glass so ok from that point of view. Just might be an exhaust pinhole or manifold leak but also sounds like it maybe from the engine casing. I have had the bike over 3 years and it has not missed a beat. It has 26k on the clock and seems to be still pulling well. Any advice appreciated, thanks ?

Renthal Bars and Throttle Cable routing
Posted by: Tefer - 06-03-17, 06:22 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

Hi,

Fitted my Renthal 758's yesterday and had seen a mention of chopping 10mm on the ends but was waiting to see how it all felt first. I have the bars on and when fitting the throttle side it felt like there was a good bit of resistance, is this normal for other that have changed?

The cables sit really close to the servo too for the exup, i am thinking its been routed wrong.

The bike has heated grips but they are quite large compared to Oxford, how do i go about removing the throttle grip if i cannot quite get on with it?

  Suspension preload
Posted by: ben17484 - 06-03-17, 05:24 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Apologies if this has been asked 1000 times, but I'm after a bit of help.I bought a FZS600 over the weekend from someone who was about 5 foot 8 and maybe 11 stone. I'm 6 foot 1 and 13 stone. He had the bike setup with 2 notches showing above the nut on the front:

[Image: 67708d1488810613-suspension-preload-20170306_130502-jpg]

And I'm not sure of the rear as I believe it to be an after market spring:

[Image: 67709d1488810638-suspension-preload-20170306_134945-jpg]

Two questions:

1) What would be the affect of me being taller and heavier and riding with the front preload of 2 notches instead of the recommended 5
2) Can anyone identify (or tell me how to identify) the setting of the rear spring from the above picture?Cheers,Ben

HELP really need some speedo advise
Posted by: Disorderlypunk - 06-03-17, 12:54 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

HELP
my speedo packed up the other day so i stripped the front down and found the rotor sensor damaged
---no diagnosis readings given on rev counter----(did once while riding but only once)
new one fitted and put together CORRECTLY no snapped lugs etc
still no speedo, getting no pulse signal to the spedometer (white wire) just sits at 3.8V
readings on the loom side of the speedo plug
blue and yellow - 12V /  white 4.61V / black and blue 0V and earths
if anyone could test that they have 4.61V on there white wire would be helpfull as that is the only one i dont think should have any voltage

all advise will be taken its driving me and my father nuts (we hate modern electronics)
