Dropping gas from tank breather hose
Posted by: j0nes - 18-05-17, 07:29 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (13)

Hello. My bike built pressure to the tank. I removed the tank and blew air to all the hoses. Now it doesn't build pressure anymore to the tank but now its dropping gas from the tank breather hose. So there are two breather hoses and one goes to tank cap. Where that other hose goes? How it can drop gasoline from there?

Whining from engine on the motorways
Posted by: Tubz1983 - 18-05-17, 04:47 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (11)

As above ive noticed a high pitched whining sound on the mororway (not really around town) in time with the engine speed, it shuts off if i chop the throttle or pull the clutch in? I have recently put the baffle back in the end can so im hoping its just normal engine noise that im not used to hearing as apose to gearbox or Camchain ?

  stuttering at low rpm's
Posted by: jan.van.gent - 17-05-17, 08:01 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (14)

Hi everyone,

A while ago I rebuilt my carb, since it was overflowing when engine was off (leaking into cylinder) and overflowing when running idle. As expected some of the rubbers were shot.

I used this set: http://www.ebay.de/itm/KR-Vergaser-Repar...2156361779

Since then, the carb is not leaking anymore, everything seemed fine.
However, now the engine hesitates between 2000 and 5000 rpm, especially near the 4000 rpm range. I've set the pilot screws as listed in the manual to 2 turns out.
But I remember when overhauling the carb, the screws were out less than 2 turns (rather 1 or 1.5).

In high rpm's or at high trottle positions everything runs great.
Things I've checked/done so far:
-checked the condition of the TPS (throttle sensor position) goes nicely to 5000 rpm, so it's OK
-replaced the spark plugs
-checked and rechecked the pilot screw settings (2 turns out)
-spraying water on the exhaust manifold when idling: they seem to be all quite at the same temperature
-reduce the pilot screw turns out (1 turn out instead of 2 turns out) on second cylinder no change notable

When I check the spark plugs, the spark plug on cylinder 2 looks realy black.
Spark plug 1, 3 and 4 look like this:

While spark plug no. 2 looks like this:

Any suggestions on what to do?
Open up the carb again and see if there is something wrong with the pilot screw of the second cylinder? Or could this be caused by anything else?

Thanks guys!

A bit of advice needed for new owner.
Posted by: final_edition - 17-05-17, 07:50 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (15)

Just a couple of questions for now.

Can the gear shift lever be converted to race shift?

I have also found 2 cables dangling under the bike. Look like clutch cable type. Is this from the exup? if so will they need connecting to something?

Cheers.

Posted by: final_edition - 17-05-17, 07:28 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (20)

Hi guy's n gals.

My name is Andy from Bexley in Kent.

After owning a few different bikes and currently own 4 Ducati's, I have bought an '05 Thousand for commuting and general everyday biking.

I will be posting in the help section no doubt, as I am not familiar with the Fazer. Although I do like to do my own spannering.

Hope to be a regular face on here.

Just got a Garmin , does anyone know if you wire direct to battery there's two wires pos and neg fused, or should it be wired to ignition. I already have a USB charger but Sat nav must use the cradle. Thanks
