  Carb inlet rubbers
Posted by: vivfazer - 15-06-17, 08:43 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

Hi all,
I need some advice.
I've noticed that the inlet rubbers between the carbs and the engine have small cracks in them, is this normal or should I replace them.
Cheers.

  Fzs600 carb balancing
Posted by: rocky1966 - 14-06-17, 11:41 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (2)

Hi. I have a 2003 fzs600 with 7,000 miles on the clock only. Mint condition. And runs lovely.
My question is. Would my bike benefit from the carbs being balanced? As they've never been done. And how hard is it to do?
Or does anyone on here live close to Altrincham in Cheshire? Who could do it for me?
Any replies much appreciated,cheers Roy.

Why is there not the option to completely delete a post?
Also I can't figure out how to rename one either?
I solely use the mobile version by the way so this might be why?

  Idle/Low RPM misfire
Posted by: Goose - 14-06-17, 07:49 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

Hello all,

My FZS 600 has developed a misfire at idle and speeds below about 3500(ish) rpm. Above that it pulls well and runs as normal.  It's not always present, but usually is. It's usually present when starting from cold, and sometimes goes away after a run, but not always.  When it's misfiring it smells of unburnt fuel from the exhaust.  I whipped out the spark plugs this evening (new a couple of months ago) and 2 and 3 are quite black and sooty, whereas 1 and 4 look fine.

Is this likely to point to  a faulty coil pack, or is there another more likely candidate?  I will check the coil with a meter at the weekend.

Of course whilst poking around and investigating the fuel tap started leaking, so thats another job!  :rolleyes

Cheers for any help!

Gen 2 - clutch actuation force, post nr 2
Posted by: FZ1obp - 14-06-17, 06:39 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - No Replies

I've checked the new slippery cable that was fitted a month or so ago and it's all free - disconnected at the lever on the bars and it runs smoothly and easily.

Clutch force required to actuate is pretty high and, comparing to other FZ1s and R1s with a similar engine, it needs approx twice as much force to actuate. Think I'll wear out my two clutch fingers soon!

The clutch is original at 49,000 miles of mainly town commuting (also lots of clutch slipping as I'm really a 2T rider).

Before I tear it down any specific ideas to FZ1s  on what to look for other than the usual worn basket etc and possible solutions and products?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Thanks guys
orlando

Posted by: Disorderlypunk - 13-06-17, 08:46 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

looking ahead and planning the full streetfighter build (lots of notes and sketches being done)
but as i need the bike as my daily at the moment i cant always rip things apart to take measurements
does anyone happen to have the dimensions of the swingarm pivot width and even better the spindle size aswell (length and diameter)
i seem to find lots of dimensions for other bikes but the fzs600 boxeye is alluding me
any help would be added to my book of random crap (should try and get it published)

Hi guys, just joined your site and thought I would say hello. I just bought myself a nice low milage fazer 1000 (2003) and thought this would be a good place for any hints or tips. AS my old FJ1200 is getting a bit heavy for me now due to a back injury I thought I would get something a bit lighter. It was a toss up between the fazer and a speedtriple 955, I thought the seating position on the fazer was more like the FJ so went for it.
