  True Heroes Racing
Posted by: unfazed - 07-08-17, 08:31 AM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

Sad to see one of the True Heroes Racing Team, Mark Fincham lose his life yesterday at Thruxton.

A tough blow to a group who are so involved in the rehab of soldiers with life changing injuries from war, restoring a sense of direction and focus to them when they were entering the dark days after their medical rehab had finished.

RIP Mark and thoughts to his family, he died doing what he enjoyed.
My thoughts also go to his teammate who was involved in the same incident, but not injured.

It's impossible to view the oil level on my pals FZS600. How easy is it to change the sight glass.

  soaking carb jets
Posted by: BBROWN1664 - 06-08-17, 04:47 PM - Forum: General - Replies (10)

Based on experience, if a jet is completely blocked with varnish, how long will it need soaking in carb cleaner before you can blow the crud out?

Or am I wasting money on the cleaner and better off buying new jets?

  Carb jets
Posted by: BBROWN1664 - 06-08-17, 02:19 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (17)

Ok, so my sons FZS600 has been sat around for far too long and as a result the carb jets are all blocked with lovely green varnish.
Soaking in carb cleaner doesn't seem to be working so I am trying to locate replacement jets but struggling to identify what each one is called. Last time I took a carb apart there were only two jets (idle and main) but fowlers seem to have several listed and the exploded diagrams do not seem to help much.

[smg id=3014]

From their website I think the one with the yellow circle around is #14 (jet main # 115). This one is now clean and clear of varnish.
the purple circle is #7 (jet, pilot #12.5)
the orange one though I am struggling a bit with. I think it is #8 (jet, main 0.6)

This is where the trouble begins. I can find #115 and #12.5 on various sites selling jets but cannot find 0.6. Any suggestions?

  Clutch bite
Posted by: mofofo - 06-08-17, 07:11 AM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (2)

Hi all hoping for some advice. Clutch bites very late with no progression. Almost like a on/off switch.cable has been adjusted at the lever but still no progression. Been to 2 mechanics, 1 suggests a new clutch pack, other recommends adjustment under the tank. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

How does the ignition advance work?
Posted by: His Dudeness - 05-08-17, 09:40 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (20)

This is embarrassing to admit but purely out of interest I had a look at the 600 wiring diagram (because that's how boring I am :lol ). I marked in all the power wires in red and grounds in blue. I've done the whole loom except the wires associated with the ignition advance. I'm not sure what's happening between the pickup coil, tps and speedo sensor. I could have a stab at it but I'm not 100% sure so I was wondering if anyone could explain those components and the signals they send out? Wink

The wiring diagram I'm looking at is on the last page of this manual http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php?action=down...iew;down=8
And I'm looking at the wires in and out of components 14, 15 and 17.

  Clutch slip
Posted by: Carlh - 05-08-17, 06:44 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (19)

Hi guys, first post here. I've had a search but I can't find the cure for my clutch slip.

When I bough the bike it slipped a bit. Adjusting the cable didn't help much but adjusting the rod on the other end of the engine did. But it would occasionally still slip at high rpm in the higher gears.

I bit the bullet and ordered new springs, friction plates and gasket. Fitted earlier on and it all went to plan until I came to adjust the clutch. I tightened the bottom adjuster then slackened it quarter turn as per the instructions. Then adjusting the lever needed almost all of my adjustment to get it right with a few mm of play. But pulling away it's slipping really bad to the point I could probably keep it in first and hold it still with the clutch released.

I've tried adjusting the bottom adjuster tighter and looser but still can't get it right.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, Carl
