  Fazer8 brake vibration
Posted by: Callmecollin - 18-10-17, 08:48 PM - Forum: Fazer 8 / FZ8 - Replies (5)

Hi guys, yust bought a 2012 Fazer8 last week and I'm finding when I apply the front brake it feels like it's working a motor. There is quite a bit of vibration from it and can feel it most when I'm stationery.
The place I bought it from said that's the way it is, anyone out there have it happening to them?

  rear caliper refurb
Posted by: celticdog - 18-10-17, 07:44 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (17)

Having replaced the rear disc, the rear caliper wouldn't go back on as one of the pots had seized solid so I've taken them off for a good fettle, one of the pots is completely focced.  :o  (clean and lube you brakes regularly)
Does anyone have any experience of aftermarket pots? Are they any good? Early fazer rear calipers are like hens teeth on ebay at the moment and I'm not willing to fork out £100+ for an equally rare thou caliper.
Any ideas?

  Very strange rich idle
Posted by: mars696 - 18-10-17, 07:39 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Hi again guys!

Soooo after solving this freaking problem...http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,23230...#msg267705
i am facing another fuel problem that was coexisting with the previous one.
As i am standing at a traffic light or a crossroad or something like that, with the engine fully warmed, and i lightly blip the throttle the rpms drops significantly and come again at proper idle speed or when i try to start moving the bike feels too rich and want more throttle opening.
The pilot screws are adjusted at approximately 2.5 turns (01 model), if i try to reduce this, the bike doesnt idle properly.
I have tried to set the float heights in many different settings.
To archive the 3.5 mm above mating surface like Yamaha suggest, i have to set the float height at approximately 15+ mm above carb surface when bench setting them, but the bike with that setting, fills very strange and wont idle properly again.
Now i am at ~13.5 mm and with the tube test it reads something like ~6.5mm above mating surface.
I m confused again for focs sake! :rolleyes
Air filter is clean, carbs are very clean, i have this problem with both carbs sets i have( spare parts!!!!), pilot jets are yamaha's 12.5.
Any help or idea will be much appreciated, because i am out again... :'(

  Battery keeps dying
Posted by: Oliver - 18-10-17, 06:21 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (11)

Hi all,

My Battery keeps dying on my '98 Fazer. I have no idea what it could be - it happened after I left the bike sitting for 6 months and I have replaced the battery twice since - both of which are now totally dead after a few days each.

Any thoughts on what it could be?

Cheers

  Less Is More..........
Posted by: Andy W - 18-10-17, 02:21 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (11)

I've found my bike too quiet since buying it, despite the can being called Viper.
I don't really like large cans either so I finally got round to shortening it today.
I took about 3" off as a starting point, & also repacked the wadding less tightly.
Sounds not too much different, but more rip when opening the throttle...test ride later today & tomorrow - though I suspect I'll be taking off another 2" pretty soon!  :eek

  the david silver honda collection
Posted by: red98 - 18-10-17, 09:24 AM - Forum: Events, Meets, Ride outs etc - Replies (16)

Day off yesterday so had a day out on the mighty thou and visited david silver in Leiston , Suffolk .

for all you non honda fans David Silver is the man to go to for classic honda parts from the early 60's  to the 90's

he has built up a collection of 150 classic honda's dating from a 1951 dream 'E' type to a 1990 's oval piston NR750 one of approx 30 in the country , suggested that this is the largest private honda collection outside japan.

well worth a visit but it is a little out of the way , approx 20 miles north of felixstowe on the east coast a couple of miles from sizewell....
