  The things friends do
Posted by: DILLIGAFF - 11-10-17, 10:58 AM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

Just back from a few days on a friend's boat. He has no sailing or motor boat experience but bought himself a 32ft. Princess so asked me to help him bring it down the Thames from Wargrave to Weybridge. He amazed me daily with his absolute lack of practical ability or common sense but there was one incident which had us both collapsed in laughter.

We moored up at Windsor and I put on a centre line to hold the boat in while I then tied off fore and aft. When I was satisfied that the boat was secure I untied the centre line from the bank. Enter the friend who had been "busy" checking his phone and, in an effort to help, picked up the loose centre line and I watched incredulously as he very carefully tied it off to the stern cleat on his boat. Effectively mooring his boat to itself!!!!!

He then stood back, beaming proudly at me with his contribution to safely securing his craft to the bank, and between bouts of hysterical laughter it took me a while to explain to him the stupidity of what he had done.

There were numerous other incidents but it made me wonder, what have your friends done?

  Under my seat!
Posted by: Joolz - 10-10-17, 10:43 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (18)

Was there anything that would have gone under this rubber strap when the bike was new, looks like it would be for the tool kit except that's down by the light? Also what are the two loops either side of the metal tab? All they seem to do is squash things I put in the under seat storage, I've half a mind to cut them off, but thought I'd check their purpose first.

  First loooong ride
Posted by: bogal298 - 10-10-17, 08:28 PM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

So, I love going out for a decent ride, 500 - 750 miles a day, and I'm hoping to do a Europe ride next year, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland and then home so I'm after plenty of advice, anything you can think of, gear, places to see, roads to try and hit ect.

I'll be stopping in Poland or a few days as my old man retired out there a few years back so I have a stopping point to tinker if anything needs it (hopefully not).

Thanks for any advice  Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile

  What carbs are these
Posted by: Andy911 - 10-10-17, 01:42 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (2)

Hi All,
Just purchased a set of carbs from fleabay advertised as coming from a 98 working bike. They arrived and decided to fit them after having a quick look and cleaning a little crud.
BUT they are not the same as those on my Fazer which is a 99 boxeye. The carb body shows 5DM01 and the internals look the same except that the blank jet is now 125 and the small jet to the side with the emulsion tube which is 125 on mine is actually a blank  but with an emulsion tube. My carb body shows 5DM.
Did the 98 bikes have differently set up carbs to later years or are these from another bike?
Can anyone help?

So having learnt my lesson last winter I've decided to try and protect the fz1 this year and bought a can of the good stuff.
My question now is what do I actually do with it? haha its supposed to stop corrosion but I'm not sure what to spray it on? Surely the exhaust will just burn it off so no point being on there, the suspension linkage will get a good dose as that's where I found a lot or rust after last winter but other than im stumped?

  Motorcycle trailer
Posted by: ptolemyx - 09-10-17, 09:18 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (3)

No longer doing drag and van sharing for track days so my single bike trailer is up for grabs. Will take extended swingarm B-King (2450mm overall length) and has carried my 250kg wet weight Busa. The channel is 212mm wide so you could get a 240 section tyre in there. Everything is in fine working order, just a few bits of surface rust that could do with rubbing back and a lick of paint. Does not come with ramp or Mazda shown in photos! I'm in North Devon.

£150 - reasonable offers anyone????

  Which Throwovers?
Posted by: vinnyb - 08-10-17, 09:14 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

I've got a pair of Oxford Lifetime Sports throwover Panniers that are fine for solo use but get in the way of the pillion footrests, so I can't use them 2 up. Just wondering what other people use when they go touring on their Fazer with the Mrs on the back. I don't want the width or expense of hard panniers.
