Hello all,
This is my first post having just picked up my fazer at the weekend. I've found lots of posts about seat lowering but I'm 6ft and having never had a fazer before it seems very low to me. Maybe this is how they are, I wondered if anyone has any advice for me on how I could tell?
Thanks and looking forward to joining the community.

| Last job is to balance the carbs, and I can't seem to get it right |

I posted a topic a few weeks ago and received some sage advice from you foccers. New fuel and air filters, carbs out and completely overhauled, checked my valve clearences, new plugs and caps, cooling system drained, flushed and re-filled. Got the bike back together, pressed the switch and she fired up again, no more carb overflow and firing on all cylinders.
The last job was to balance the carbs, partly because I have never done it before and partly because of a kind of ticking/ clanging sound at the top of the engine on the left side which gets better as the bike reaches temperature. After reading around a bit it would seem carb balancing could help. I read through pointer2null's post on the subject to prepare myself.
Here is a short vid of my carbs before I adjusted anything: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgNX9bVLVzA
Now this is where the problems started. Rather than buying the carb tune like a sensible person I bought a cheap 4 gauge vaccuum gauge thing off amazon. To reduce needle flutter it has little plastic valves that you screw in and out on the plastic tubes connected to the carbs. The problem is that half a turn on these seems to change the readout quite significantly and I can't be sure I'm getting an accurate reading. I got 3 + 4 carbs balanced, kind of, and then I fiddled around for ages with the centre screw but all it seemed to do was increase the revs with the needles barely moving up or down.
To reduce the revs back to idle I started to also play with the idle screw. Eventually this proved futile as it seems the idle screw had no effect anymore on the revs (could it have come detached or something at the carb end?) while the revs sit at 3000 and I can't get them down anymore. I was spinning and spînning the idle screw and it had no effect. Dejected, with a wife who I had promised this would only take 20 minutes and a toddler crying for his absent father I turned off the ignition, put the cover back on and hung my head in shame as I walked back into the house.
Should have just bought the carbtune.

Looking for a bit of advise. My Fazer's engine is cutting out when I come to a standstill especially when the bike has been running a while. Any ideas what the problem is?
Thanks
Mark.

Just bought a 2006 fz6 and have been going over everything on it. I have found the rectifier has been changed to a fh010ba. Is this a comman upgrade to these bikes? Also is it possible to buy the connectors plugs for this recticfier as whoever installed the new one has spliced the wiring and just put spade connecters on it.

Hi am new to this forum. Currently have a 02 plate fzs1000 with the follow issue.
The dipped and full beams don't work at all, the side light however does and when pushing the pass switch the high beams come on. When moving the switch from side lights to dipped you can hear the relay clicking and same when moving the switch from dipped to high beams. Am a bit confused so thought I'd ask for help here.
Cheers in advance
Jordan

So, my other bike is a 16 plate Tracer (and yes, I love it).
On Friday, noticing that the bike was running lumpy at low revs with a very erratic idle, and unable to establish any obvious cause I took it off to my local Yamaha dealer to do the necessary (it's still warrantied so i was hopeful that this would be a nil-cost visit (fat chance as it turned out). The diagnostics computer revealed nowt wrong so, as the guy said, "it's down to spanners and spotting to find whatever's broken, fallen off or whatever". After considerable spanner action in their workshops the cause turned out to be vermin (mice probably) damage to two of the three vacuum ports (or more specifically the rubber bungs that sit on top of them). The scottoiler vacuum valve atop the third was not to Pixie and Dixie's* taste apparently.... 3.5 hours of labour charges those b%st%rtd mice cost me as obviously this was NOT covered under warranty! "Oooh I hate those meeces to pieces!"*So Foc-er's, take care this time of year, the little blighters are coming into warm places (like the top of your engine in your garage), they're hungry and they'll chew all sorts. You have been warned. Here at Wharfe mansions it's mousetraps all round. Now I'm a buddhist kinda guy, don't eat meat, don't like killing anything if at all possible, but my garage is now a free-fire zone for anything that moves..... *kids, ask your parents about the old HannaBarbera cartoon "Pixie and Dixie and Mr Jinks"....Crap that passed for entertainment in the 70's..
