Young girl at my local was moaning about her car breaking down on the M25. She said she thought it was "pulling a bit to the left"
A passing motorist flagged her down and her nearside tyre was deflated and completely split in two and must have been running on the rim.
I blame power steering and all the other modern comforts which isolate drivers from all the "feel" of todays cars.
Maybe its just another reason why you guys still love biking.

Decided it starts today , list of jobs: remove AIS, check valve clearances, remove carbs and airbox, remove exhaust and paint engine, replace carb to head rubbers, balance carbs.
So far I've followed the guides on pats page, dropped the coolant - it was just rusty water no antifreeze, removed the AIS and tapped the exhaust ports. That was a pig of a job with such restricted space, I feared my tap was going to snap but I managed it in the end and cut down some M8 cap screws to 10mm to go in.
Front of the engine is filthy so I'm soaking the exhaust nuts overnight as they will have to come off for access.
Does anyone have a blanking cap for the airbox I could buy?

Firstly, black Fazers are the fastest, i'll make that clear from the start!!
Cumbrian by default, Lancastrian at heart. Current bike, which i've had for about ten years, is a '98 FZS 600. I'm always taking it to bits and putting it back together, sometimes quite successfully!
Had a bike since i was a kid, scrambling was my thing on a very used yz 125. Progressed onto a fizzer, dallied with DT'S then went on a journey through the RD's. Bought an SR 500 single, rode it twice then sold it within a week. Clearly the worst yamaha ever produced.
Anyway, great site with endless help which i like. Good to be here.

NGK Plugs |

Has anyone on here had any issues with NGK plugs breaking down quicker than they should?
Went to go back to work this morning and after eventually getting the bike to start it ran like a total pig.
I cleaned the K&N filter while i was off so backtracked in case i’d kinked a pipe or something but after messing about for a couple of hours trying this and that in the cold i gave up and spoke to my mechanic, and after explaining what i’d already checked he said to try new plugs, regardless of how new my ones were.
My plugs were put in 3000 miles ago and are NGK Iridium with a life expectancy of 40-50K.
I’d kept my old set and once swapped over everythiing ran as sweet as a nut.
I don’t remember ever having a set of plugs fail on me so didn’t actually recognize the symptoms to be honest, so it was a learning curve anyway, but must admit i was not too impressed with them failing that quick.
He did mention that although they still are one of the best brands out there, he has noticed a drop in quality, no doubt due to manfacturers saving a few quid here and there.
Worth knowing in case you encounter any similar issues.

Hi All, first time on the forum another born again biker!. Had my 98 FZS 600 for just over a year now started riding again after my youngest lad decided he would go on two wheels rather than four (YZF 125R). Been tidying up the fazer over the last year and now decided to 'go naked' (bike not me!!). Does anyone have any good options for single light conversions. 8) .

Anyone know who manufactures Halfords semi synth. motorcycle oil? Just done an oil change with some and it looks & smells similar to Silkolene!
Probably wrong, usually am.
