Over fueling "pop pop pop"
Posted by: motodevcam - 07-01-18, 06:03 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (25)

Hi All,

After a group ride this afternoon, guys behind me all said the fazer is overfueling. Said they could smell it strongly and of course bike is really poppy on deceleration. K and N filter, Micron full system. (See pic) Recent carb balance.

Not sure if a previous owner has been fannying about with the mixture or wether just dirty carb issuses. Bike was sat for a couple of years until I bought it last year. Plan to remove the carbs, strip and clean in the next few weeks anyway. I did wonder if it was just symptomatic of the full micron system on there?

Any musings would be appreciated!

Cheers

  Born again…
Posted by: Gee - 07-01-18, 02:56 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (2)

Finally found time to introduce myself…

Hi.. I’m Gee, a 50+ “born again biker” based in West York’s… I started riding back in ’80 on a Yammy DT 100, progressed to an RD250 DX around ’84… had a break until ’88 ish, then a Honda CB900 FA until about ‘90/91 and in Sept last yr ('17), after a couple of years thinking... bought my latest... a 2001 FZS 600 boxeye on a 'Y' plate with just short of 39,000 on the clock, I mainly use her for commuting to work but I like the idea of doing a bit of touring around the UK (passport’s expired so as of yet Europe’s out).

[smg id=3070]

She was kitted out with a pair of Michelin Pilot Road, a Delkavic 350 Oval can (minus baffle), rear hugger, ‘Cumfy’ saddle (not…), heated grips, smoked Dbl bubble screen, smoked tail light lens, clear ‘mod look’ indicator lenses and a chrome radiator grill.

I’ve since fitted a set of Hel race brake hoses all round, done the headlight mod to get twin high beam (instructions found this forum… thnx go to Moffmeister + John Silva for the re-post), removed the shield from the L/H reflector, fitted “90%” brighter Halfords bulbs (can actually see in the dark now) then bought and fitted a baffle for the can to save complaints about the daily 6am warm ups… now removed… sounds better & feels a little “perkier”.

In the near future I plan to fit a fender extender, K&N (if not fitted) and a pair of Renthal 758’s… of which I’ve read mixed reviews regarding the loss of full lock or not… will know after fitting, may need some raisers… also thinking about a switched USB charge/power point, Sat-Nav (old phone or tablet), Givi topbox and possibly a tank bag for the touring/wk ends off… a “Blue Spot” rear calliper and belly pan would be nice, but I fear the cost will put a stop to that.

Going to nurse her through to 41,000 (on 40,200 now) give her a 6K service/health check then see what the future holds…

Camping in the Black Forest, anybody been?
Posted by: Billy Balthorpe - 06-01-18, 10:50 PM - Forum: General - Replies (22)

11 of us are going off to Europe on the bikes as usual in July. We have a choice dependent on the weather. Its either camping in the black forest or if the weather is crap in Germany, down to my place (again) near to Nevers in France.

Now I am a little worried about the availability of camp sites which could accommodate us (we will need about 5 pitches together) without causing problems with other campers, families and young kids trying to sleep at 9pm when 11 of us are sitting around having a laugh and drinking beer.

I have had a look on the net for campsites in the Black Forest and all the ones ive found have marked off pitches and I reckon they would be either fully booked or only have a few scattered pitches available by the time we get there in the middle of summer. We cant book up early because we wont know where we will be going until about 3 days before we leave the mainland for Europe.

Has anybody been to the Black Forest around the B500 road area (yes I know its quite long) who has any info about campsites which would be more suited to our requirements?

Thanks.

how did it turn off ?
Posted by: leatherhead - 06-01-18, 08:50 PM - Forum: FZ6 / Fazer - Replies (4)

Hi everyone

i have just acquired my FZ6 04,

out for a blast to get used to her, came off a roundabout onto a dual carriageway, went to over take a line of lorries and opened her up, halfway past and she died, crap I've broke it already :'( , wouldn't start by releasing the clutch and I'm slowing down fast (this is a fast carriageway) better get off the road, I managed to squeeze between two lorries then quickly onto the verge and pull up.

bewildered looked at the dials and hmmm no lights or power, then look at the key it's in the off position??  turn the key and all lights and check sequence? and it starts????

anyone else had one turn itself off, or was I able to not turn the key properly travel for 35 miles before it decides it don't like it... never had this before

  Rear light
Posted by: iamthearrison - 06-01-18, 07:16 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

A mate at work pointed out yesterday that only 1 of the bulbs in my tail light was on. Having taken them out to check them today, it seems theyre both twin filament bulbs, but, like the headlights, only use 1 filament on either bulb (so the 5w is on on one of them as a tail light, and the 25w comes on on the other when you pull the brakes). Is that normal, and if so, is there a known mod to use both filaments on both bulbs, like there is on the headlight?
