Irish Car Parts Traders - dickturpin - 11-02-18 I've been looking at replacing the auxiliary drive belt on my wife's car and am beginning to notice a pattern of auto car parts sellers based in Ireland regularly being significantly cheaper than UK sellers.... usually offering free postage. I'm happy to buy wherever gives a good deal but wonder why these sellers are becoming so competitive? Of course I want genuine parts as described....don't we all... Any thoughts guys? Re: Irish Car Parts Traders - midden - 11-02-18 I got my Alternator bearings and diode pack from Ireland without problem..... I imagine Ireland is as good as anywhere else, including UK Re: Irish Car Parts Traders - dickturpin - 12-02-18 I'm just surprised they can be 50% cheaper than places like 'car parts 4 less'.. If something seems too good to be true....... Re: Irish Car Parts Traders - VNA - 12-02-18 Lower corporate tax, different business rates, less bureaucracy maybe. The exchange rate, though this is not that much of an advantage as the pound has been weakened due to the possibility of BREXIT. Of course, if BREXIT does happen, and it’s a hard BREXIT you can kiss your cheap Irish car part bargains goodbye as you may have to add on import tax, VAT and post office handling charge. Re: Irish Car Parts Traders - Oldgit - 14-02-18 don't buy them, they are made of potatoes potatoes. Re: Irish Car Parts Traders - steve 10562cc - 14-02-18 Leave it VNA it's about car parts not foccing BREXIT Re: Irish Car Parts Traders - VNA - 14-02-18 Quote:Leave it VNA it's about car parts not foccing BREXIT Indeed it is. The thread is about importing car parts from within the EU. :'( EU as in European Union. When the original poster says Ireland, rather than Northern Ireland, one assumes they mean the Republic of Ireland. Re: Irish Car Parts Traders - dickturpin - 15-02-18 It was actually traders from the north...but let's not stop that getting in the way of a good discussion ... Re: Irish Car Parts Traders - VNA - 15-02-18 Quote:a pattern of auto car parts sellers based in Ireland regularly being significantly cheaper than UK sellers. Northern Ireland is part of the UK. In which case I don't know what their advantage might be.
