  2003 FZS1000 for sale (reduced)
Posted by: glennc - 27-07-18, 01:41 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (9)

Reluctantly due to unforeseen financial circumstances i have for sale My FZS1000 which  since buying on ebay i have owned for a total of 2 days the original ebay item was 273361514914 which as all the details. i am hoping not to lose to much on the £2495 i paid but am open to close offers. Reduced to £2000 for quick sale

Detail from ebay below  I believe that the 1st owner was a member of this site, and Mike has confirmed to me that he did the Ivanising on this bike

Two owners from new, full history, had service last week.
white Power shock, uprated forks.
Has been Ivanised, full monty. You can google this - its basically had the carburators/airbox/air intakes modified to allow a perfectly fuelled bike and release an extra 20bhp with no further engine mods, other than Remus silencer to help the breathing. It is not offensively noisy.
Renthal bars, screen, all standard parts included, apart from the std shock.

Thanks for looking.

  coolant tank hose size
Posted by: mobile mouse - 26-07-18, 10:30 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - No Replies

Hi,
Does anyone know what the inner diameter of the coolant tank pipe.
Mine looks to have started to show signs of it perishing.

So i was looking to replace the pipe but need to get the right size to fit onto the tank.

Just did a (too) quick adjustment of my chain, took it out for a test run around the block and when I got back it was hot to touch (goes tight-slack-tight-slack as the wheel turns) :eek

Its too unevenly worn to get in spec through its full rotation, so I'm looking at ordering a DID 530VX chain, but DID don't make split links for them. Last time I tried fitting a rivet link (on a DID 520 or 525VX), the head of the rivet failed and sheared sideways before mushrooming out to the expected diameter, I'm not sure if it was bad luck and I got a faulty link, the budget chain riveter I was using, or somehow my technique. Luckily a local shop had a split link for it.

Has anyone else had a chain rivet fail using one of the budget tools? I don't really want to spend £100+ on a professional riveting tool, but if thats what it takes...

Alternatively I could relive my 125 days and get a plain chain without any kind of seals...

  OEM Clutch Cable
Posted by: old son - 26-07-18, 08:14 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (10)

I have bought OEM parts from Boat.net in the past but looking at their web site they are only showing boat parts. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place?

I want to buy an OEM clutch cable, anywhere that can offer a bit of a deal?

Thanks

  New engine: Insurance hassles?
Posted by: Grahamm - 26-07-18, 07:44 PM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

As I'm getting a new (17k miles) engine in my FZ6 (65k miles) can anyone tell me if this is liable to cause hassles with insurance renewals?
The insurance is up again literally next week, so I'd like to know the best way to do this to avoid having to pay stupid charges for something being changed...

  2005 FZS1000 - SOLD
Posted by: characticus - 25-07-18, 04:40 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (8)

Spring is nearly here - so I'm offering this again. Bargain at £2490.

I’m reluctantly considering parting with my Fazer 1000. I’ve owned this bike from new but I’m getting to an age where the knee bend is just too much and is becoming a deterrent to riding. It must be one of the best available at its age having only covered 17,300 miles and rarely been out in the wet. Pictures show the condition, here’s a summary of its features;Perfect running order (as you would expect)
1 owner (me) from new (2005)
Full monty Ivan’s kit fitted by Mike
Blue (the later darker blue)
17, 300 miles
Carbon Can exhausts (std can available if required)
AIS removed
R6 shock (around 5k miles on this)
Venhill brake lines
R1 Shift mod (plus std parts)
Heated grips
Hugger
Mirror extenders
Exup valve maintained regularly from new!
Yamaha engine bars
Gear position indicator
Alarm
MOT till May 2019

On the negative side, there is a small crack on the left hand side infill panel and a slight scuff on the alternator cover.

Bike is located near to Glasgow.

Losing coolant in very hot conditions.
Posted by: robbo - 25-07-18, 10:08 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (8)

On my recent trip to the Spa Classic and the Black Forest, there were two occasions when some coolant was lost via the header tank overflow. Both times on hot sunny days stuck in traffic and limited to low speeds. I'm hoping the culprit is the radiator cap which has been ordered. However, although the fan operates within a few minutes on tick over from start up, as it should, is there a way of easily proving it would come on via the thermo switch in high heat conditions.
I know the manual suggests testing the resistance of the thermo switch  in a pan of water at various temperatures, but wondered if there's a simpler way.

  3K Tacho fault
Posted by: Billy Balthorpe - 24-07-18, 08:31 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

On my Gen 1 1000, ive noticed occasionally that the tacho drops to zero, and then pops up and starts reading normally again, I thought it may have been a loose plug in the back of the clocks. Ive seen the 7K Exup fault lots of times before so i know how they are displayed. Then very recently i think the fault stayed around long enough for the fault code to be displayed properly, it went to 3K which i believe is a Throttle Position Sensor fault. Can anyone confirm this please?

Also, is it a matter of adjusting the position (if possible) of the sensor or are we talking about scrapping it and buying another one?
