Haven't had a price from the dealer yet so I thought I'd put it on here first but if no takers by the time I'm ready to do the deal for a s1000xr it will go to the dealer £1700 ovno offer I think that's fare.wont be ready to let her go for about a week as I'm still using her

  Spark Plug colour
Posted by: deeteefifty - 27-08-18, 02:17 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (13)

Hello, can anyone please advise if this plug colour is acceptable on my 600 Fazer, it's an NGK Ridium CR8EIX. The other plugs are similar, possibly a touch more grey on the arm. The engine was up to temperature and left ticking over for a minute before plugs were removed. I checked these as I had the carbs off to free off the seized tick over adjuster screw, ahead of balancing the carbs. I found 3 of 4 mixture screws seized and have been unable to free them after leaving them overnight in diesel and heating. The mixture screw that is free was set 1 turn out from fully in, which should be 2 turns (I think for a 99) obviously I'm unable to check the others but using a vernier they measure the same height as each other from the carb casting. The jetting is standard and the bike starts (even without choke) and runs fine but runs a bit uneven at idle 1000-1200.

Starting Issues / No neutral Light. *Thievin' little scrotes!*
Posted by: Banger - 27-08-18, 02:12 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (16)

So, after a week of abject misery after my Fave bike - 05 Gen1 Fazer 100 - was stolen from my sisters drive by the local little scrotes, I have managed to retrieve it from the little darlings and get it back to the safety of my garage.

Insurance Assessor is due out next week so I thought I'd get a look over done first to see if it was worth buying it back to repair.

Good news is that all the big important things appear fine, wheels, forks, frame etc.

Having re-connected the chopped loom at the ignition I now have all lights, horn & oil light on dash but no Neutral light and the starter button is dead as a dodo. Nothing, not even a click.

Need to get it started asap to be sure the engine is sound so any help or advice on what to check now is welcome.

Possible causes ?

Ignition cut out relay behind L/H panel. Can this be tested ?
Side stand switch - checked & seems ok

Starter solenoid ?
Clutch switch ?  Clutch cable and lever are disconnected but switch bypassed.
Neutral switch failed ?

Any Advice please on where to go next ?

Refurbed & upgraded FZS 1000 rear shock for sale
Posted by: Dynspud - 27-08-18, 11:46 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (1)

Here for sale is a standard Gen 1 rear shock absorber that was overhauled & rebuilt approx 5 years ago.
It's sat all wrapped up in a box in my garage all that time as I did Devilsyam's R6 shock mod when I bought the bike about 4 years ago.
I was new to Fazers back then and didn't realise what was already on the bike and, taking much of the good advice available on this site decided to "upgrade" what I thought was a standard shock to the R6 one.

I believe everything was done by MCT Suspension (sticker on the shock) and the spring replaced with a K-Tech 55-175-90 one, which I think is for a YZF-R1 looking at their parts catalogue but I don't really know what the numbers mean.
I think the first two are the part number and the 90 is the spring rate (90 N).

It's in really good nick with a small amount of surface rust on the preload adjuster and outer body of the shock absorber and a small amount of damage to the rubber bump stop.
All the working parts are like nearly new.
It also comes with the standard dog bones I took off when doing the R6 mod.

Anyway, check out the photos and see what you think.

I'm asking £125 for it plus postage, which I'm not sure how much that costs as I've never sold anything like this before!!

Hopefully will go to a good home and a Foccer who is looking for an upgrade to their standard shock.

  FZS1000 front wheel
Posted by: ptolemyx - 27-08-18, 09:49 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Reasonably good condition, but please note last picture shows a barely perceptible dent, less than 0.5mm deformation. Wheel runs straight and true. Bearings are good.
£100.
Price includes secure packaging and delivery by Hermes, which will cost me about £10. Or you can collect from North Devon.

How hard would it have been to run it tomorrow? it may have cost a few quid extra to keep some people another day but in the long run everyone would have benefited especially as it was a bank holiday anyway.I wonder how they intend to re-emburse the fans !

Hi, While adjusting my chain I noticed a fair bit of play in the rear wheel when in gear, probably 2 to 3 inches is this the norm? the bike rides ok with some snatch in the first 2/3 gears but nothing you would think was a problem, thanks for any comments. The bike is a 2010 fz1n.
