  Streetfazer

I bought my fazer in early october having owned a VTR1000 firestorm for 1 month which was a nice bike in good nick cost a grand  and sounded awesome but the fuel economy was truly shocking even on a 70-80mph ride to work it would only manage 120miles to a full tank, i couldnt get on with the snatchy throttle and severe engine braking so i sold it for this!!I bought it for £900 more than i wanted to pay as the front fairing was cracked scratched and generally scruffy but i need a bike fast to go to work.

The first time i rode the bike in the dark coming back from work i realised the headlight was cack so i dropped the lumiled H4 bulb i had in the VTR i was an instant improvement but that meant riding with full beam on all the time.
I bought another lumiled H1 bulb but it wouldnt fit in the apeture.

Bugger!!
So back in december just before i emigrated to lithuania i sold the complete front end for £100 and decided to streetfazer it.
Now i did like the original fairing it was retro cool but the woeful headlight made me realise it was a good decision i wasnt going to throw silly money at some retrofit labs projectors on a £900 bike
I realise some of you may think i've butchered a perfectly clean bike but this is the best side (still with dent in tank and scratches on engine cover) the other side was bad, plus i wanted a project bike if a wanted to buy a perfect bike that just needs oil and petrol I could go buy one, but  that would take away the enjoyment of going to the garage and playing away from the wife and teapot lids.

  Hello

Hello,

I'm looking to downsize a bit from my current shopping and general running around bike (1991 FZR1000 Exup RU) so looking at buying a 600 Fazer.

I've had bikes for over 35 years and as well as the Fzr have an Aprilia Falco as my other road bike. Also have 350lc and a Kettle in the process of restoration.

I'm leaning towards a Foxeye but wouldn't rule out a Boxeye if one appeared at the right price. I'm away from home working for the next 3 weeks so keeping an eye on the usual sites and lining some up for when I get home.

Had a good read through the forum and got a good idea what I'm looking at so thanks already.

  Squawking noise on and off
Posted by: shieldr - 22-03-19, 03:49 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (58)

Hi, have an fzs600 with 31k on the clock. Have had it for around 6 years with no major problems. Just recently I have had a squawking noise intermittently when riding. The noise comes in short bursts. Usually just after accelerating. At first I thought was Some sort of wind noise but now am sure it’s mechanical. Any ideas? Brakes all look good. I thought maybe headers, loose plug, head gasket. Sounds like a budgie being strangled. Not like brake squeal at all. Thanks for any help  Smile . It is hard to check when riding with lid on etc.

What a plonker. Riding home from hospital tonight, been to take my youngest brother some clothes in, took a right turn, the above came on accompanied by a grinding noise, then went off. Same again as I turned right onto my drive. What the foccs that I thought. Bike on the centre stand, fired it up, turned the bars right, same agian. Gave it a good look over, couldnt see anything amiss. In the garage and on the lift, ignition on but bike not running, turn the bars and the foccing thing fired up!

Idiot had put the tank bag back too far forward, turn the bars and it fired the start button :groan

I know I could be opening up a political discussion but please keep those comments off this thread!

Is there a ride for this? You know, for people who support the idea that those shooting unarmed people in the back as they flee should face justice…

fork oil / air gap ??
Posted by: 74eldiablo - 20-03-19, 11:08 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Ive just put some 15w oil in my 2001 forks with pre load adjusters.
465ml measured out correctly.

Pumped the forks to release air bubbles.
After 10 minutes each leg sitting i measured the air gap

It was way off the specified 132mm (at least 15 > 20mm off)
Should i add more oil to make the air gap the correct height or just leave the measured out 465ml

Thanks
