Engine a bit clunky
Posted by: rocky1966 - 23-02-19, 04:50 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Hi I have a fzs600 , 2003 foxeye model. Just seem to have noticed even idling, the revs, fluctuate. And the engine seens a little clunky every now and then, and seems like it wants to stays sometimes, when moving off, and it has a couple of times. It's only done 8,000 miles from new, so a mint bike really. Just about to do a oil & filter change today on it, see if that sorts it out. As shamefully haven't done one in about 4 or 5 yrs. Anyone near me, in ALTRINCHAM ,Manchester. Who could give it a good once over? Cheers if anyone could , or even reply.

  New shoes!
Posted by: Ergzzz - 23-02-19, 04:47 PM - Forum: General - Replies (21)

Hi all,

I find myself needing a new pair of tyres after only around 6000 miles, pretty pissed off! they are the BT016 and i have been doing a fair bit of motorway travelling the last thousand miles or so.

I was wondering if any of you lovely foccers had any advice on which tyres to go for next. Something with a hard middle compound and soft sides for all the cornering i so love to do.

I hear Michelin tyres are a good recomendation???

How long have you owned your Fazer600?/ Is it your only bike?
Posted by: vinnyb - 23-02-19, 12:22 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (20)

I'm just coming up to 2 years with my Fazer and have no plans to change it yet. Just wondering how long owners tend to keep them before they decide it's time to move on or is it your 'forever bike' particularly if it's the only bike you own.

  what to update?
Posted by: Mike1962 - 22-02-19, 07:59 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (22)

Hi

I'm new to the Fazer.  I've just picked up a 2002 box eye 600.  it looks in mint condition but I'm sure there will be things to look out for/consider updating/replace with newer better versions?

So far I've done about 60 miles on a lovely dry sunny afternoon.  It's got Michelin Pilots fitted (not sure of which version but as the bike has obviously been well looked after I'm assuming not been on too long) with plenty of tread and they felt fine yesterday.

If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

2018 Yamaha MT10 NOW SOLD all extras now listed on EBay.
Posted by: SkidT - 22-02-19, 05:37 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (3)

Any interest in this at £8250??? To include all of the extras listed?  Or £8000 completely standard?

I might also consider an immaculate and well maintained red and black or blue Gen1 in part exchange up to £2500?

Yamaha MT10 blue in colour, First registered 26/03/2018 with currently about 2200 miles on the clock. This may rise a little if we get some decent weather.

It had its 600 mile service at the end of May 2018. Second year of Yamaha warranty still to run. The bike is in superb undamaged condition. It has been wrapped up in the garage over the winter as I haven’t done a great deal of riding over this winter (see below) and I also have a winter hack should I feel the need.

I bought this brand new last March to run alongside my then R1200GS TE. Sadly, I then managed to write the GS off in September and both my body and my confidence took a bit of a bash. The up side is that it seems to have maybe knocked some sense into me and made me realise that perhaps the MT isn’t the bike for me going forward.

So, as fantastic a bike as it is, I’m going to move it on. I still have my Gen1 which isn't going anywhere and may even get a bit of a cosmetic refresh once this sells.

It’s the standard MT10, not the SP. however, with the extras that I’ve fitted, it’s closer to an MT10 Tourer in spec. I believe that the only things that a Tourer has that mine doesn’t, is some 20L soft panniers (available from SW Motech with frames for £274 https://bykebitz.co.uk/bags-connection-b...-mt10.html and the Yamaha handguards. I cant remember if they come with heated grips or not?

Anyway, the MT10 comes as standard with:Cruise control / power socket / quickshifter / three power modes / three traction control modes / ABS and probably other stuff that I’ve forgotten.

In addition I have fitted the following:
Colour matched Baglux tank cover from new (£134)
Yamaha Touring screen (£172)
Yamaha Comfort seat (absolute necessity) (£272)
Rad / oil cooler guards - can’t remember which make, possibly R & G? £80ish?
Givi aluminium rear rack with monokey plate (£118)

The bIke, including all of the accessories listed above, is for sale at £8750
If you want the bike completely standard, I’ll sell it for £8500.

IM not looking to take offers on these prices at the moment thanks.

The cheapest that I can find on biketrader is a 2016 plate at Ocean BMW for £7500 with 15k miles on it and none of my extras. Everything else listed is starting at £8k and again mostly 2016 plates, without my accessories.

They made improvements to the 2017 / 2018 models, adding quickshifter / different smoother fuelling maps etc.

Please PM me with any interest, but I wouldn’t linger on it, as I’m in liaison with some dealers at the moment, so it may be going in as a part exchange.

I'm not prepared to start stripping the extras off of it at the moment either, sorry.
If you'd like to see some photos, please PM me with your email address and I'll fire some across to you. I can't seem to work out how to resize them small enough to attach them in line with the forum rules.

  Barge like handling
Posted by: Stinka - 21-02-19, 09:48 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (32)

So I need to do some serious tweaking to sharpen up the front end on my gen 1.  What are the limits of raising the forks through clamps before it’s gets a bit slappy? I’m thinking I’ll go for 15mm straight away as it’s so slow to tip in. Loads of dive under braking and the preload is pretty much all the way out, I’m 23 stone lol so I’m going to need to wind it right in a fair bit me thinks ... any suggestions?
