Rough running, vacuum ports missing - glennc - 01-04-19 HI Hoping you may be able to offer some advice, my 2003 gen 1 started running rough this morning, whilst idling i could hear a air whistling sound coming from the engine. Upon further investigation i discovered that the vacuum port cap was missing on cylinder 3 along with the spigot which the cap fits to, there is just a hole in the inlet hose visible. Any advise on what to do next would be greatly received Thanks An upside down picture helps :rolleyes Re: Rough running, vacuum ports missing - ogri48 - 01-04-19 id guess to keep the inlet pipe stubs internal diameter all identical for balancing the only answer is to replace the stub dude. Fowlers may stock them new if you dont want secondhand. If your not bothered about balancing the carbs it'll be a lot easier to sort obviously... Re: Rough running, vacuum ports missing - glennc - 01-04-19 Ogri48 Thanks for the reply, is there a easy short term fix? until i get time ti sort it out properly. At the moment the bike is my way of getting to work. Re: Rough running, vacuum ports missing - agricola - 01-04-19 How about taping or super gluing a soft tap washer over the hole in the short term? Re: Rough running, vacuum ports missing - Trebus - 02-04-19 Have a good look, it might have fell down and be sat on top of the engine. You can glue them back in, Ive had them come loose in other bikes especially using the cheap Chinese new inlet rubbers. They sometimes pull out when taking off the balancing pipes. If it’s gone you could measure up another spigot and find a piece of new tube to glue in. Either superglue or high temp silicone works. Got to be preferable to taking the carbs off of everything else ok. You could even buy a spare rubber and do it next time you do carb cleaning. Re: Rough running, vacuum ports missing - glennc - 02-04-19 Trebus Thanks for the advice, it was sat on the engine as plain as day, i will get some silicon and stick it back in. Re: Rough running, vacuum ports missing - Trebus - 02-04-19 Nice one! Get her bodged back in and jobs a good un! ? Re: Rough running, vacuum ports missing - ogri48 - 02-04-19 good result dude! |
