Fitting new battery - am I going nuts?
Posted by: DaveyJay - 09-11-11, 09:04 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

Just bought a replacement Yuasa YTZ14S for my FZ1-S. Charged it o/night and fitted it today - electrics are dead as a dodo, yet were working when I removed the old battery a few days ago. Now I've noticed that with the battery sat in it's proper place in the bike the positive terminal is on the LEFT of the bike and the negative terminal on the RIGHT, not the other way around as specified in the owner's manual. Therefore the red lead has to be attached to the negative terminal of the battery and the black to the positive - surely wrong!! . If I turn the battery around in it's cradle, then the leads just won't reach the terminals. The new battery is exactly the same as the old one.
What the f### is going on here??
Could other members check their own bikes and let me know if I'm being a p###k?

Cheers lads and lasses!
Davey

  Alarm problems
Posted by: Lukesharp - 09-11-11, 08:07 PM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (2)

Hi,

hopefully you can help me. I have a SELCA MT-8 alarm, which has just given up the ghost. I got it fitted when I bought my FZS600 new in 2002. It has worked perfectly ever since until last week when it just stopped. I want to remove it and have successfully bypassed the ignition so that it fires, however it will not start as I don't seem to be able to bypass the immobiliser. Would anyone have any schematics so that I can wire up the correct wires? I had a look on the abacusalarms.co.uk site but they only have the 1998 schematics and the wiring was a bit different on the 2002 model.

Any help greatly appreciated.

  Headlight mod dazzle
Posted by: DryRob - 09-11-11, 01:07 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (2)

I've done the headlight mod on my boxeye and am concerned that I might be dazzling people. Is there anything I can do to the alignment or should not bother and be glad I'll be more visible?

My friend's 18 year old son has just been diagnosed with testicular cancer, he noticed a lump and it has been caught early so it's very likely that he'll be cured. He found it because his mum got him to watch this http://www.channel4embarrassingillnesses...testicles/

Please watch it, tell your sons, brothers and mates to watch it and don't die of embarrassment.

  About time I said hi.
Posted by: Newgolddream - 08-11-11, 11:20 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (4)

Hello all. I've been looking for a while now and found some great info and tips. Thought it about time I said hello. I've been riding a gold '99 FZS600 between Gloucester and Cheltenham for about 4 months now. On a couple of occaisions I have seen another similar looking bike. Are you on here? Any other members in the area?
Also, posted a question tonight re. front sprocket nuts - can anyone help?

  Front sprocket - again!!
Posted by: Newgolddream - 08-11-11, 10:21 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (16)

Oh dear, just changed rear tyre, chain and both sprockets. All fine apart from the (common I now see) front sprocket nut, washer, shaft problem. Nut = knackered; washer = knackered; thread on shaft = knackered.
Has anyone had any recent dealings with Yamaha regarding this? Will they do a free shaft replacement on a 1999, 30K FZS600?
I will contact them myself tomorrow but don't want to get fobbed-off by anyone. If they are not doing this repair (to parts not fit for purpose) is there another quick fix i.e cut new thread onto shaft and source a different nut.

My mum got a phone call from some Indian person today and managed to scare the shit out of her and she ended up spending £249 on some software!  [/color]http://www.quickresolve.net/ is the name of the company, anyone heard of it? Would appreciate a heads up on how they work. Cheers.
