Its Nearly Back Together!
Posted by: Slimted - 10-11-11, 08:16 PM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

So, after snapping a spark plug in half (while still in the head), I am very close to getting it back together. After a short delay with a gasket (see elsewhere) the head and cam shafts are back in and cover on. While the Fazer has been off the road I had a test ride on Triumph 1050 Sprint ST. I love my Fazer but the Triumph was a great bike.......I might just have to have two bikes. Just dont tell the family....

  Gen 1 for Sale
Posted by: Falcon 269 - 10-11-11, 05:13 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

I've been asked to post this on behalf of a friend of a friend who's having problems logging on to the forum.

2002 Gen 1, blue and standard apart from a taller screen (make unknown).  5300 miles only and asking £2,900.

Described as in mint condition.  No photos available for me to put here, unfortunately.

If you'd like more details, contact Lauren on 07827 812358.

I've not seen the bike, don't know the seller other than by association with our mutual friend and can't provide any more information than what's here already.

Mike

  Head Gasket Question
Posted by: Slimted - 10-11-11, 12:26 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (2)

I stupidly removed head gasket without checking which way it goes back on. I have of course got replacement but noticed it is not quite symetrical.
If you lay gasket down as if looking forward on the bike there is a little tab just off front close to centre. Looks like it is for another engine model as well (thundercat maybe). But when looking forward should it be to the left or the right? Help!

Strange Noise After The Chain Was Adjusted! HELP !!!
Posted by: Easy Rider 13 - 10-11-11, 09:43 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (12)

Hello Hello Hello....... Me AGAIN !  Smile
This bike seems to be giving me more problems then ever now!
one of my "yeye i can fix that" mates advised me that my chain was slack and needed tightening... so after much struggle of every nut, bolt and toggle being "far too tight" he ended up taking the rear spindle out and taking the adjusters out as they were filthy and almost impossible to move...
So far we were going ok, he put the spindle back in and adjusted the chain etc so its matching both sides of the swing arms etc etc etc..... soooo the problem......
I left to ride home, (a 40min journey that actually took 2hours) and i noticed the problem.
The Knocking..... it felt a bit like my rear wheel was about to fall off. when i got back it was pitch black but had another little look and it still seems to be aligned....
Any ideas of what i can do? i know im due for a new chain and sprocket but would this cause the knocking?
its a slow speeds as well as fast (although i didnt get about 40mph due to traffic)
Also i have just looked and noticed a few rust spots on the chain.
so please please please! help!

Fitting new battery - am I going nuts?
Posted by: DaveyJay - 09-11-11, 09:04 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

Just bought a replacement Yuasa YTZ14S for my FZ1-S. Charged it o/night and fitted it today - electrics are dead as a dodo, yet were working when I removed the old battery a few days ago. Now I've noticed that with the battery sat in it's proper place in the bike the positive terminal is on the LEFT of the bike and the negative terminal on the RIGHT, not the other way around as specified in the owner's manual. Therefore the red lead has to be attached to the negative terminal of the battery and the black to the positive - surely wrong!! . If I turn the battery around in it's cradle, then the leads just won't reach the terminals. The new battery is exactly the same as the old one.
What the f### is going on here??
Could other members check their own bikes and let me know if I'm being a p###k?

Cheers lads and lasses!
Davey
