  This months BIKE
Posted by: nickodemon - 26-11-11, 03:41 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (1)

Just received my bike mag subscription through the door. There is a section with 'top 25 bikes that do it all'. Our fazer 1000 is highly rated (Don't want to tell you the results in case i piss someone off, who hasn't read it yet!) plus there is another story 'practically perfect' where the top bikes compete against each other. I can tell you we do well again! Enjoy! Smile

Drink and drugs - warning very powerful
Posted by: thecert - 26-11-11, 02:32 PM - Forum: General - Replies (9)

For anyone thinking of having just the one and riding/driving this Christmas here is a sobering bit of video footage that makes you think, be warned it's very powerful and not suitable for the sensitive  sqeamish or your young children to watch.  :eek

Lots of Gen 1 in the new Jan 2012 issue of BIKE
Posted by: AyJay - 26-11-11, 12:25 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (23)

The issue's main theme is All Rounders and I'm pleased to see the Gen 1 beats the new Multistrada and the old VFR 750, not to mention the BMW GS 1200. Not bad for a bike designed probably 12 or 13 years ago.

I was at the Bike show last weekend and asked about whether there would be a crossplane Fazer (and begged them for a decent sized tank on it too). The Yamaha chap was saying nothing. . . .

  Stainless EXUP Cover Bolts
Posted by: PieEater - 25-11-11, 10:58 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

Anyone know where to get these? I've got some with a 10mm head and no shoulders (no dandruff jokes please) which are impossible to get on and off with a socket but which will do in the meantime.
I've read on these forums folks recommending an EXUP service at least twice a year and have always though that was excessive but having just looked at mine after 10 months I can deffinately say it was overdue a service, so I'll be doing mine twice a year from now on.

  Removing the Carb De-Icing Hoses
Posted by: PieEater - 25-11-11, 09:40 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

Now that I've got rid of the AIS from my Gen1 I'd like to get clean up a bit more and get rid of the 2 hoses feeding the de-icing circuit between the carbs and the radiator. I don't ride the bike if the thermometer is going to read less than 10c so I can't see this being a problem. I was thinking about trying to source some caps for the spigots on the radiator and thermostat housing to blank them off but then thought that it might be easier just to run a pipe between the two so in effect the circuit remains (albeit a lot shorter) but the carbs are bypassed. What I didn't want to do was put any additional stress on the water pump and just thought I'd ask here for any comments.

  Back to Fazerdom?
Posted by: b1ondini - 25-11-11, 06:42 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (3)

Hi lads and lassies,
It's been so long since my last visit here that I've had to register again!  I used to frequent the site at the turn of the millenium when I was roaming the streets of Norfolk on my favourite bike, my Gold Fazer 600 (gold because it was the fastest colour Smile ).
Since selling it, I have had a cruiser and currently own a giant triallie Aprilia ETV1000 Caponord.  My Capo is currently sat broken in my garage following being taken off it last Sunday by a Pug 106 :'( .
I'm currently awaiting the insurance assessor to see if it can be repaired or not.  Since it is Italian and the bits cost a fortune it is likely to become a wad of cash instead of a motorbike.
As my wrist is bust, pinned and plated, I have a little time to start dreaming of what to get next.  Of course, my mind heads back to a Fazer, but 1000cc flavoured this time!
Anyway, just thought I'd say hi to you all, and look forward to sharing some fun on here - just like the good old days of spending nightshifts with tears in my eyes reading through the posts.
Hopefully catch some of you out on the roads on my Fazer thou' once I get it and my wrist can reach full throttle again!
Cheers, Scott (aka B1ondini)
