Got a 60th. birthday surprise party coming up for a single lady.
Need some inspiration for a gift?????????????

Only thought I had, after much deliberating, was a nice Bus Pass holder??

She does like gardening but the last plant I bought her, a grape vine for her trellis, obviously did not meet her high quality control as she left it in the corner till it died!!

Any ideas??????????????????????? :rolleyes

  Fork protectors?
Posted by: Bracechenko - 15-01-12, 10:46 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

Is there anything you can buy to protect your forks from chips and denting? I've just noticed a tiny little dent (1mm or so) and want to prevent it deteriorating over time.

In my mind, if there was some sort of hard plastic shield or summat that would be ideal but a quick Google search only showed the R&G protectors that are designed to protect them in a crash.

Does what I want exist?

Ok, I know it's legal, but is it clever?!

Coming back from Southampton this evening, I noticed traffic ahead of me in in Lane 1 fairly abruptly pulling out, doing an overtake, then moving back again.

I couldn't figure out what was going on until I saw for myself, a Lambretta scooter (with a rear light with as much intensity as a couple of glowworms) doing about 50mph  :eek

Now I presume it had a capacity of over 50cc to make it legal, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to be riding it on a motorway...!

  Fork Caps Wanted
Posted by: Phil TK - 14-01-12, 07:00 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

Has anyone got any fork caps going spare? Perhaps someone out there has irrepairably bent their sliders in the past and has a pair laying around they could sell.
Reason is, I've put on some different handlebars which work just right with the GYT handlebar clamps but annoyingly the bars clout the top of the preload adjusters unless I screw the adjusters right in but this messes up the preload setting I use.
I need to get a pair of fork caps and machine the spring-landing down a bit to ease off the preload and give me back some adjustment.

Addendum (edit): -I've just had another look at a diagram of the fork internals and there is another way perhaps, does anyone know if shortening the spacer is easier?

  Front Brake Pads
Posted by: Silverdream - 14-01-12, 05:24 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (19)

Hello all..

Just whipped off my calipers and noticed that my pads are nearly down to the metal..

I bought my Fazer at the end of Nov and it needed a load doing to it.. i have just got round to the front end and am putting on stainless steel lines..

Calipers, piston and seals seem to be in good condition..

So i was wondering ... with so many choices on the market ... what make/type brake pads do you guys use??

GG/hh/sintered etc... Goldfren/EBC/Brembo or OEM??

What do you think?  Smile

  Fz6 fork oil
Posted by: robby boy - 14-01-12, 05:07 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

Been out fettling on the bike all afternoon, replacing damaged fairing and giving all the parts tucked away under it a good clean and polish, anyways one of the winter jobs I had on the cards was replacing the fork oil, what would be the best grade of oil to replace the existing with?, 5, 10 or15? also is a 2005 fz6 setup the same or similar to the FZS as I've never done this before and see there is a couple of great writeups about this on the forum, any help good or bad greatfully received.

2001 fazer 600 circumstances changed no need to sell sorry
Posted by: bigwheelscfc - 14-01-12, 03:10 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (2)

2001 fazer 600 for sale completly, standard still has original downpipes that get treated regulary. it has a hugger fitted and brighter headlight bulbs aswell as red grips otherwise factory spec. the bike is in extreamly good condition, cleaned and polished all the time. she has just over 14000 miles and shes been serviced regulary. she has been in my family the last 3 years and a family friends before that so i know all her history. she may have few more miles on her as shes used daily as a commuter. she rides beautifully and never misses a beat. looking on ebay theres older fazers with more milage and worse condition for more money so i think £1750 a fair price. shes located in dorset. more pics avalable if wanted and any questions please ask.

I'm looking into polishing up and tarting up my downpipes, although don't really know where to start and how to do it.

Would anyone be able to help me out on this if you've attempted this before ?

Cheers guys Smile
