  Tank protection
Posted by: Looney tune - 16-02-12, 02:06 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

Hi all,
What are your views on baglux/bagster tank covers. Are they best removed when you wash your bike? are they bad for holding moisture in ?
Looks ?
My bike is a black FZ1N.
Is there anything else you would recommend for tank protection ?

Thanks in advance to any advice given,
Russ

shiny bar ends at good price.
Posted by: Ian-man - 15-02-12, 11:49 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

My steel bar ends were scuffed and rusty and I fancied a bit tasteful bling. However some nice polished aluminium or stainless bar ends seemed a bit pricey. Found these polished aluminium items. Ordered from an American company and arrived via Taiwan!

About £13 including postage, fitted straight on.

  clutch fixing
Posted by: bludclot - 15-02-12, 09:28 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (10)

hello all

my clutch has not been right since i've had this bike. i adjusted the cable (at 21k) and this improved matters no end but last time out on the bike i had to hold the lever right to the bar to keep the bike still while in gear. only half a mil out and the bike started creeping forward. bike has 22k on the clock.

having read up on here it seems several others have been along this road and there's a plug in the main clutch shaft that comes out and needs putting back in. towards this i removed the outer casing, springs, outer plate and all the inner plates today. i have not found a plug loose inside however.

i've never been inside a bike clutch before so my questions might be basic...

is this the plug that i'm looking for - in the end of the shaft in its correct place? (red arrowed)

or do i have to remove more parts?

my haynes manual tells me that i have a lot of measuring to do now, any recommendations for a cheap but good vernier caliper?

work is a bit thin on the ground right now so i don't have any spare money to pay anyone for this, hence diving in myself into what, for me, is uncharted waters.

Towing Tow bars or Tow Ropes?
Posted by: madmondeoman - 15-02-12, 04:52 PM - Forum: General - Replies (15)

We have been given new instructions for work vehicles saying to carrya tow rope for emergency use, I was told by the AA when they recovered my Focus last year that tow ropes are illegal and you should only use tow bars.
Does anyone know for definite before tow ropes are purchased for everyone?

Thanks
