Tyres??? (sorry) - GrahamB - 26-02-12

I'm sure this has been asked many many times before but I thought I would ask again in an attempt to gain some recent feedback.
I have used the search feature on this forum & the general opinion seems to be the Bridgestone BT023 is favourite. Not bothered about wet grip as I tend to stay home when it rains but decent mileage would be nice. My Continental road attack has squared off after only 2K miles but I will admit to being very heavy handed with the throttle so can't blame the tyre entirely. I have a Sport attack on the front & never had an issue with grip from either. My wheels are due back from powder coating on Wednesday so could do with ordering some sharpish as the chap who is coating them has offered to fit my new tyres if I take them when I collect the wheels.
Can anyone recommend a good on line supplier of the Bridgestones please?

I've used these guys several times previously, pricing has always been competative and delivery as speedy as you can expect.

Re: Tyres??? (sorry) - SEPTIKANGEL - 26-02-12

I've had Bridgestones from here before, cheaper than ebay and free post too.

Another is http://www.oponeo.co.uk/ and they are cheaper.    But.......I ain't used this site yet, even though prices are cheaper again - worries me that it's not an https (secure) site when paying.  Anyone any experience with them?
So for now, I'm sticking with Pneus - online  Smile

i moved to maxxis ages ago cheap last grip suits me

Re: Tyres??? (sorry) - GrahamB - 26-02-12

Was going to ask about the Maxxi's but thought I would keep it simple. So you rate them yes?

Re: Tyres??? (sorry) - pitternator - 27-02-12

my other favourite is dunlop roadsmarts. I have fitted them to my speed triple and it really likes them, handling very well indeed. Maybe now roadsmart 2 has come out , the roadsmart will be cheaper ?
I have ridden with  them on my fazer in 2009 on a trip to the pyrenees and thought they were  great- lovely feel, very long lasting and good in the wet.

Re: Tyres??? (sorry) - devilsyam - 27-02-12

yeah i do graham they tick all me box's - good in wet with good feedback last well 6k on current rear although on wear markers now
dry grip is as good as anything else i have used but being poor the bonus is i can buy a set 120/180 for the same price as a roadsmart rear

Re: Tyres??? (sorry) - GrahamB - 27-02-12

Thanks for the link. I would love a rear to last 6K! Only had the bike 9 months so maybe I will calm down a bit this year.. .  maybe.

Still haven't dismissed the Maxxi's but my problem this year is I want to use the bike as much as possible during the summer so 3-4K miles perhaps but then I'm seriously considering a return trip to the Nurburgring in August. I want good grip for summer, road use then bloody good grip if I decide to go to Germany. I can see me needing another rear by August so am considering a pair of Diablo Super Duper Corsa's from this guy who is only 20 miles from me.

I had a pair of "scrubbed" Corsa's fitted to my TRX850 several years ago but with only 80 odd BHP they were never going to get the abuse my Fazer will subject them to.. .  plus all your mates think you must ride like a Motogp god when they see the edges of your tyres all shredded to f**k!  :rollin

I think 2 rears to 1 front will be realistic. I have arranged to collect a pair from him tomorrow, just not sure if I'm wasting my money or not?  :\

Edit;
Just noticed the Maxxis in your link are the Touring ones. Found these which I'm guessing would give better grip but less miles. Only another tenner.. .  .

Re: Tyres??? (sorry) - bigralphie - 27-02-12

I have them on my Tuono now and they are lovely tyres but won’t last ,I am going to get Diablo sports next as the difference in grip is minimal but you get a deeper tread

Re: Tyres??? (sorry) - devilsyam - 27-02-12

Agh but were not talking stonkin v twins here granted i wouldn't put em on a v twin you need pr2-3s

Re: Tyres??? (sorry) - ghostbiker - 27-02-12

Just at my wear marker now on the 023 rear. grip has been very very good up untill now. but suddenly the grip has just complealty droped off lol
best milage i have had from a tyre on the fazer though beat the pr2's by a whole 350 miles
normaly get 4k from a rear pr2 but got 4350 so far on the 023 i doubt i will hit 4500 as the grip has droped off so much once past the wear bar

will replace the rear with another 023 to match the front, then replace the pair with pr3's i think next time.
