  The Barge Inn at Honeystreet
Posted by: John Silva - 12-03-12, 12:39 PM - Forum: Events, Meets, Ride outs etc - No Replies

Somewhere NOT to go  Sad :'(

A guy on another forum I'm on set out on a rideout into Wiltshire. Went into The Barge Inn at Honeystreet where the manager was a rude, unfriendly anti biker tosspot. Nice pub, Just a shame about the ar**ehole that runs it. (his words as I never been there) 33 bikes was not an avalanche. They were forewarned a few hours before there arrival by one of the guys who got there earlier that there would be a group of bikers maybe 25-30 strong heading over ..It's a Lottery funded pub so they don't really give a f**k about making any money and treating customers with respect.
One miserable local even complained to one of our Road Marshals that "you bikers" are to noisy and spoiling the peace and that he was going home.
He said being scowled at when you enter the bar and then being told “you could have told us you were coming" is not the way to run a business and even more shocking is to then go to a table of people and apologise to them because "these bikers" are here, is a disgrace.. The Barge Inn. some nice reviews are now on their way to every bike forum in the UK and every Pub Guide in Britain

Somewhere TO to go  Smile
20 of them returned to the Huntsman Inn at Falfield where Kay the Landlady promptly opened up for them and served them piping hot plates of Roast spuds in Onion gravy along with honey roasted parsnips. All free of charge.  :eek Now that's how to run a business. Top marks to The Huntsman Inn....

  Wot no Matty
Posted by: Andy Clap - 12-03-12, 11:28 AM - Forum: General - Replies (7)

The last time I used this site a lot (2002 - 08) a day didn't go by without Matty spouting some kind of drivel.

What became of him then?

I fully expect the answer to be he's serving time for knobbing a coppers underage daughter, or he wiped himself out  (and probably another Foccer as well) by being dim?

To his credit he did seem to understand Gyroscopic Precession and it's role in counter-steering a motorcycle.

  Exhaust sealant
Posted by: edc - 12-03-12, 11:28 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Hi all,

I've recently installed a Motad venom exhaust (downpipes/linkpipe/silencer combo), but the gap between the link pipe and silencer blows.  Link pipe to collectors seem fine.

I've not used any sealant in the assembly and have seen firegum mentioned a lot - but not everyone seems to like it.  For example, water collecting in the join washes it out when trying to cure it.

Interested to know what you guys have used in the past with success.

Cheers,

EdC

Not the usual tyre related question
Posted by: 1967fazer - 12-03-12, 12:54 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (10)

I have noticed when I've been out on the bike for a blast and I check the wear  on the edge of the tyres, to see how heroic I've been, the rear tyre always gets close to the edge of the tread and the front still has a good inch to go. Is this because the bike is currently biased to the rear on the suspension (or seems to be) or is it down to my riding style on the Fazer?  My CBR6 used to scrub the tyres fairly equally with a slight bias towards the front. I have found myself using the power of the bike to punch out of the corners, whereas on the CBR I was carrying more corner speed. Any thoughts?  Anyone else found this issue on their bikes? Any suggestions on rectifying this minor but strange issue?

  Leaking fuel
Posted by: 1967fazer - 12-03-12, 12:07 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

My bike is parked outside all the time, not always covered, its parked near my door so I regularly walk past it. I've noticed just recently a strong smell of petrol when passing the bike and then this morning I noticed a small damp patch under the bike. When I smelt it it was definately petrol. Its dripping very slightly from, I presume, the carb drain pipes. Any ideas on whats causing this and is it possible to turn the petrol off, as I've never seen the fuel tap, I know it has one somewhere! Any clues please

rear shock advice please fazer 600 2002
Posted by: andy352299 - 11-03-12, 09:34 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (31)

this has probably been done to death but i have treid searching but cannot find the answer i am looking for
so here goes.
i was out on the bike today and some of the roads were fairly bumpy anyway the back end of the bike seemed to wallow and was not very inspiring. the spring is set on the highest preload but one. the front end feels fine.
I am not the fastest or best rider and weight about 12 stone
so i am considering a rear shock change  I am looking for a budget solution
i have seen mention of a 1000 fazer rear shock fitting a 600 but how hard is it and does it alter the ride height
also i have heard of an r6 shock on a 1000 fazer - so will an R6 shock fit a 600 fazer
or should i just accept that i cant ride for toffee
thanks in advance
thanks in advance
