won't take throttle at 2k revs
Posted by: mcyoungy - 03-04-12, 03:03 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (9)

My Gen 1 ha developed a problem. It won't take throttle at about 2k revs. Feels like a misfire, but slipping the clutch gets it through and away.

Is this likely to be Exup or TPS?

Goes fine otherwise.

  Dreaded Front Sprocket
Posted by: Andy Clap - 03-04-12, 02:16 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (33)

Just took the sprocket cover off for a bit of cleaning/inspection.  Found that the sprocket is only being held on by the tab washer.  I was a little surprised as although I knew of others having the problem it never happened on my previous Fazer.

Quick Google search found this excellent site and article...

Within 5 minutes I'd phoned the local stealer, they'd taken my details and submitted something to Yamaha.  Waiting to hear back to get it booked in and fixed.

Many thanks to John Silva for the topic.

FZ1S possible buyer - questions and advice
Posted by: River Valley - 03-04-12, 01:22 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (6)

Hello - new to the forum and looking to buy a 2006 FZ1s, 20,000 miles, standard other than a Power Commander. Before I commit to buying, just wondered what things I need to ask/check that are specific to the model? I'll do all the 'any bike' checks of course.
- does this model have the exup like the first gen? presumably I should ask if it has been regularly maintained?
- is it likely that the Power Commander is there to help sort the fuelling issues assocaited with the early FZ1S?
- any areas of specific issues I need to ask about?
Thanks

  Front fork adjusters
Posted by: dolau - 03-04-12, 01:20 PM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (6)

Had a thought this morning while eating my Cornflakes.
My old FZS6 has adjustable front forks and my new(er) FZ6S does not
While I am quite happy with the suspension of the FZ6, I was wondering whether the fork tops from an FZS6 would fit on the top of the FZ6S forks... I have sonfused myself now with all these FZ's :o

  Should I attempt a 4 spanner job?
Posted by: Farjo - 03-04-12, 10:56 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (13)

Been riding 10 years; before that never knew one end of a spanner from a screwdriver. But over the years have slowly picked things up and now have a fairly respectable set of tools and can confidently perform a 3 spanner job (balancing carbs).

So I'm thinking of replacing the cylinder head with a new one, which Haynes describes as 4 spanners. Was reading it in bed last night and although it looks long winded, and will definitely take me some time, none of the steps looks tooo difficult.

Has anyone done this and got any tips?

  Belly pans
Posted by: Tanz - 02-04-12, 10:26 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (20)

Hi  - just got a Fazer 1000, Gen 1 in  black. 9000 miles and clean as a whistle.

Before that I had a ZX9R but I'm getting too old for pure sports bikes now, too uncomfy. I also had a BMW R1100 RS which I can best describe as a mistake! Vibey heavy slug  :'( . Previously CBR600FM, TTR250, GPz1100, XJ650, RG250, RD250DX and 3 x 350LC's..
I'm based down in Poole.

Anyway, trying to figure out which belly pan to get.. it screams out for one!

Has anyone got any decent pics of their bellypans to compare? Any comments on fitting and quality?
I'm looking for plain black (not carbon) to match the bodywork..

Cheers

Tanz

Hi Guys,
I'm looking for a set of engine bars to fit my 2001 FZS600, would ideally like the genuine Yamaha upper guards in chrome but will consider anything complete with fittings?
Thanks!
