  Scotland...in august
Posted by: phil on a fazer - 27-03-12, 03:37 PM - Forum: General - Replies (24)

I'm thinking of heading up to the north coast of Scotland in August.

Now..I've always understood August to be a bad time to visit Scotland.

Generally in August the UK is quite wet but the main problem i understand  is the midges!  :eek

am i right?

  Problem starting on frosty mornings?
Posted by: chunk166 - 27-03-12, 08:55 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Ok, this has happened 3 times now! On cold, frosty mornings my bike will not turn over & all the clock readings go back to zero except the mileage!, It's like the battery is knackered? but if i bump start it & run it for 5 mins, turn it off & leave it for 10 mins it will start like its ok?
Have you Guy 'n' Girls got any suggestions, should i just buy a new battery as i've not seen this happen on other bikes??

Cheers

Ray

  Does size matter ?
Posted by: Looney tune - 27-03-12, 07:29 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

Hi peeps, I need new tyres on my FZ1 and was wondering what size of rear tyre you run on yours. Do you run a 190/50 or a 190/55 ?

Many thanks

  Exup cable question
Posted by: solorider - 27-03-12, 01:15 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

As some nice last owner disconnected the cables I have to replace them as they were frayed,so the question is does the top cable go to the top of the motor and top of the exup valve? Or do they cross over?

  cleaning fazer shiney engine ?
Posted by: mike26 - 26-03-12, 10:58 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (13)

right so i have seen alot of fazers with really glossy nice showroom looking engines, the question is how to you get them like that, shoe polish wax etc.
i can get mine looking good but some look like they have just been painted.
im really hoping these fazers arnt owned by sunday rider but are owned by commuters

so if anyone knows how or any other cleaning tips (getting brake calipers to a newish black not a greyish black)

thanks

  Newbie, from Portsmouth!
Posted by: Destructo82 - 26-03-12, 10:22 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (6)

Hi all,

I'm an all round newbie. 11 years ago I used to have an old cb125 for a couple of years but the big end decided to die. Life started to get all serious then and I never got round to fixing the 125 or taking my bike test. But I've finally decided the itch to get back on 2 wheels was to big to ignore, and I took the test in feb this year (valentines day in fact, much to my wife's delight!). Naturally the next day I treated myself to the fzs600 I'd been pining over!

I love my Fazer, I use it to commute, and to have a blast at the weekend so it gets some miles, and I soon decided that lifesavers at the thicker end of the speedo tend to snap your neck off. So I made an extra screen out of some acrylic and bolted it on. It might not look great, but hey, function over fashion for motorway miles...and my neck likes it!

Thanks btw...over the last month I've trawled the site and stolen loads of info to sort out the bike (my favourite being the headlight mod...twas great!)

Anyways, a few pics...

Greg.

1x black rear hugger removed from my 98 600 fazer. Hairline cracks down the center of it but not noticeable when fitted. Hugger must collected, postal service not offered. (Wigan)

  Rear brake calliper
Posted by: greeny - 26-03-12, 09:18 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

Hi all,

One of the bleed nipples broke off my rear calliper. I want to sort it out but want to get a second calliper first incase it goes all wrong. The only problem is I can't find one any where. The bike is a 53 plate fzs. Anyone know if the rear caliper is a blue spot as standard? And is there any other bike models with same caliper so I can widen my search?

Thanks for any help or info you can provide.

Peter
