  Before I destroy another sensor
Posted by: seangee - 02-04-12, 06:34 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

Had to replace my speedo sensor in October (See here). I was fortunate enough to find one on e-bay and haven't seen one since, so I'd prefer this not to be a regular thing.
Followed all the checks recommended by Chitsu and everything checked out. Haven't done too much riding since as my employer packed me off to Poland for winter. Now I'm back and rejoining the daily rat race to London.
Last few days my speedo has been behaving erratically again (i.e. no, intermittent  or low readings). This time I have a bit more info:

  1. It only does it when I have the throttle open, if I need to check my speed (say because I'm coming up to a camera) all I have to do is close my throttle - which has the added benefit of slowing me down  Wink
  2. It doesn't always do it, but when it does closing the throttle always clears it
  3. It never does it at motorway speeds, problem seems to go away above about 60mph - presumably that's speed related as revs don't seen to make a difference
Anyone seen anything like it before or any suggestions on what to look for?

  Possible new clutch?
Posted by: FuZzBoM - 02-04-12, 01:31 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (14)

Hi all, had a nice ride out yesterday but noticed my bite point was near enough at the end of travel when letting it out. i adjusted on the engine side and then the cable but hasn't helped much.
I did notice the plain plates are rather close but unsure what the gap should be.

also when you depress the clutch lever (with engine off) and look through the oil fill hole the 1st set of plain plates and friction plates separate from the others.. is this correct? any other foccers able to check theres and let me know if theirs does the same?

the clutch does not feel as though it slips but i am worried because i am doing a tour of Ireland in May so i want it right before i go.

Many thanks,

Hi All,

Just picked up my Fazer last week and loving it....  The EXUP valve needed some adjustment to get it performing properly but it's now running great!

Hello, I've re-join the Fazer family again. I had a Gen 1 Fazer 1000 in 04, and jumped to GSXR1000 for a couple of years. I just bought a Gen 2 FZ1S last month. It's good to be back on the best bike ever.

WTD: 2003 Fazer 600 Starter clutch cover (kidney shaped) + other bits
Posted by: Flip - 02-04-12, 08:04 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (3)

Hi Peeps,

I have picked up a crashed 2003 Fazer 600 and I'm trying to get it running for my better half on the quiet.  Thought I'd come here as you've all been helpful with my thou!

Its a 2003 Fazer 600 with carbs, and primarily I'm looking for the starter clutch cover (kidney shaped cover on right hand side of bike) ideally with the bearings still in and two of the securing bolts.

I'm also looking for a right hand indicator and right hand drivers foot peg too, any help gratefully received!  Hopefully we can resurrect this fazer...

Does that FZS600 have a cable clutch, or is it hydraulic?

Premium grade petrol enhancing performance and mpg
Posted by: akula - 01-04-12, 09:56 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on premium grade petrol with the fzs600. For example will using a product like bp ultimate petrol give a significant improvement on performance and mpg or is it negligible between using something like tesco brand?
