  Play in Rear Suspension
Posted by: dickturpin - 30-03-12, 08:21 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

Just MOT'd today.....Pass with no advisories... Big Grin

But I watched the guy test the bike and he did comment on some play in the rear suspension. I recall a thread on the old site about re-torquing the suspension linkages on the sidestand to cure this.
I wonder if putting on the R6 shock and torquing on the centre stand (which I did a month or so ago) could be the difference as no play was noted last year at the MOT.

  Lots of FZS600 parts
Posted by: Fuzzy - 30-03-12, 07:50 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (72)

Hi there,

Running out of space so I have quite a few parts for sale, thought I'd offer them here before Ebay. All the parts are for 98~01 models (i.e. square eyes) but some parts are interchangeable with the 03+ models. Prices are reasonable, I'm happy to sell these parts for less than the usual prices on ebay. If you're interested or want photos/details, just drop me a line and we'll take it from there. See list below.

Thanks,

Claude

  • Headlight unit. Good condition X2 Now on Ebay
  • Lowered seat. Good condition
  • Seat cover. Good conditionFairing/headlight & clocks bracket. Brand new in Yamaha bag, guaranteed to be straight. Rare part.
  • Mirrors, left & right. Good condition
  • Double bubble screen, "Nuvo" brand. Good condition
  • Fairing infill panels, left and right. Good condition

  • Pillion grab handle, metallic blue. Has a few small marks on one side, but good condition.
  • Carbon fibre look Fenda Extenda. Good condition
  • Fairing brackets, left and right. The ones that the mirrors attach to. Structurally sound but could do with a lick of paint.
  • Front pair indicators. Good condition.
  • Rear pair indicators. Whoever removed them cut the wires so no plugs attached. Everything else is good condition.
  • Rear pillion footpegs & hangers. Rubber topped pegs. Good condition, a polish should bring them out nicely.
  • Rear rack. Looks like a basic one, don't know the brand - not as nice as Renntec etc but functional. Little bits of rust but good cond.
  • Front fairing, metallic blue. Good, solid example.
  • Brand New Genuine Yamaha Accessory crash protectors / bungs. Now on Ebay

  painting side panels
Posted by: solorider - 30-03-12, 07:09 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

both of my side panels were covered in light scratches,so i bought some halfords bumper paint,it does not need rubbing down and does not need primer,i sprayed both of mine and apart from one frip they both look good and the finish is satin

in this pic you can see the drip but otherwise it looks good, shame about the rust on the frame though

  hand guards
Posted by: fazer69 - 30-03-12, 06:18 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (9)

fitting the hand guards took me 30 mins a side, they both need trimmed on the under side, the bar ends need enlarged with a drimmel & then a hear gun just to finnish off, we did a 1000 miles round scotland in 4 days last year, it rained all the time, i can honestly say they saved the day.

  2001 Gen1 Thou' 5k miles!
Posted by: sonofthecert - 30-03-12, 03:32 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (3)

Friend of mine has a blue 2001 Gen1 Thou' for sale. I haven't seen it in the flesh but he tells me it is absolutely mint. I have seen pictures which seem to back this up. The idiot bought it and rode it once. Questions obviously need to be asked about his sanity, but it has 5k miles on from new. A local dealer has offered him peanuts but I think he would let it go for very reasonable money. I don't want to talk figures here because frankly that's his (and whoever may decide to buy it) business.
Anyone interested, please text me your details on 07801 949620 and I will put you in touch with him. He's in the Milton Keynes area.
Thanks,
Steve.
