Squires easter egg run this coming Sunday 1st April
Posted by: 1967fazer - 28-03-12, 09:49 PM - Forum: Events, Meets, Ride outs etc - No Replies

All you folks out who are familiar with Squires cafe at Sherburn, nr Leeds, apparently there is to be an easter egg run starting from there. Everyone is meeting at Squires for 10:00 and then they will be riding out to the Sun Inn and then on to a destination in Ripon (not sure where exactly), all you need to do the ride is an easter egg or two. This all third hand info, but you can find out more here: Squires easter egg run 2012 ( I hope that link works!) or here:
www.yorkshirebikeforum.com (I hope that one works as well!)  or just Google it!
Would be good to see a good sprinkling of Fazers out there Smile
Sorry its short notice, but I just found out about it myself and thought I'd mention it on here.

  Tank range
Posted by: dazza - 28-03-12, 06:54 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (9)

Hi all, been making the most of the sunshine and nightwork by having some gentle cruises to the south east coast over the last few days.  When i had reached 200 miles on a single tank i started to get a bit concerned and started looking for a garage. Found one after another 9 miles and brimmed the tank. I was amazed  i could only get 17 litres in meaning i have averaged 55 mpg giving my bike a theoretical range of 256 miles. Just out of interest, would love to know what the furthest anyone has got on one tank of fuel. Don't want to turn this into a competition, just think of it as a safe alternative to Russian roulette.  Wink

  Fuel Strike?
Posted by: Bitfik - 28-03-12, 06:01 PM - Forum: General - Replies (38)

Is there going to be a fuel strike? I just heard that David Cameron has advised people to fill their tanks. Does he not know that, thanks to his and previous governments taxes, we can't feckin afford to shell out a hundred quid  to fill our tanks???

  Fuel filler lock seized!
Posted by: Ghoti - 28-03-12, 06:01 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (9)

Got to the petrol station today and could not open the filler cap. Being ham fisted, I even bent the key trying.

At home, tried the spare (straight) key and still no joy.

Undid the 5 Allen key bolts, bit it appears that there is something else to undo before I can remove the filler cap unit (I left my Haynes manual at a friend's house after some work on the bike).

The lock is currently soaking in penetrating oil, but I'm not holding much hope.  I'll replace it ASAP but I need to know how to get the cap off to replace it and if there is a short term bodge to open the lid.

How hard can I hit what to help? Don't mind if cap does not lock if a temp fix can be performed. Would a screwdriver down the barrel force the lock open?

I've got enough fuel to get to and from work tomorrow, just, but as the light came on as I got home, 36 mile round trip is all I'm prepared to risk.

Thanks in advance
