  Are you a perfectionist?
Posted by: alan sherman - 11-04-12, 10:47 AM - Forum: General - Replies (20)

I was just wondering whether motorcyclists have a tendency for perfectionism.  I do (as my builders keep finding out) and I thought that riding a moto needs things to be done 'right' otherwise you may die.  Biking is an extreme form of control freakiness in a way!

The opposite view would seem to be complete disregard for life / details.  It might be interesting to see whether FOCers are at these extremes or just somewhere in between.

Anyone know where I can buy "just" a head gasket for my gen1 ? Don't fancy buying a whole set if I can avoid.  :eek

This is probably a bit late but I've been busy.

Fazer Line Up.
In the past we've had some nice line ups usualy organised by either Trev (Polorbear) or me (KK). Last year was a bit of a shambles mainly because I got there a bit late and others had parked left right and centre and I couldn't be arsed to go round chasing people, and we certainly felt the wrath of Trev... Even though he was in Spain.

So lets make a bit of an effort this year because it does look good in the photos and I'm sure you'll agree. Be prepared to move your bikes - please.

I don't know if Paul has told the Museum we're coming (I hope you have hint hint) so hopefully they'll have a car park set aside for us. If there is no car park I'll see if I can get permission to put bikes on the front concorse as I have done in the past.

C U all there. Shiney side up. And I'm bringing one Mars bar for me.

Noticed there are a few new Scottish/white settler  Wink  members on here now.
Was thinking about a wee meet for fish suppers somewhere for old and new members that is handy for an afterwork run/meet/head home.

Any thoughts on this or possible meeting place ?

Cheers
Russ

hi, got the bike out of storage for the first time this year today and found some cracking in what i think are the carburetor manifolds. i've tried to put i link to a photograph of them below but if that doesn't work i'll try and give a description. between the carburetors and the back of the engine there are four horizontal pipes about an inch or so long, they're rubberised and have a slight kink built into the design. what i want to know is if anybody has any experience of these. is it a protective layer cracking or is it more serious? do they need replacing asap and if so is it a big job? and could it be a sign of some other problems with the fueling perhaps? sorry for not being more technical but i'm still learning bikes and still have limited experience. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1...db75b8b2ad

  FZS1000 gearbox woes
Posted by: binarystarr - 10-04-12, 06:44 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (17)

Hi

Picked up my 02 bike on saturday and am having problems already.

Shifting up is incredibly difficult and i often have to re-engage the clutch and try again with quite a bit of force to get it to click into place.

This obviously isn't normal - should i take it back to the dealer or are there some quick fixes i could try? It's done 34000 miles and has some service history but not much.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Hi all, I have just got a gen 1 1000 that has had ohlins fork springs fitted, problem is the preload is locking out at three rings from hard(both legs), I checked with ohlins and they are the correct springs, so any ideas why I cant screw out the adjustors to the 6th line?
