  Should I attempt a 4 spanner job?
Posted by: Farjo - 03-04-12, 10:56 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (13)

Been riding 10 years; before that never knew one end of a spanner from a screwdriver. But over the years have slowly picked things up and now have a fairly respectable set of tools and can confidently perform a 3 spanner job (balancing carbs).

So I'm thinking of replacing the cylinder head with a new one, which Haynes describes as 4 spanners. Was reading it in bed last night and although it looks long winded, and will definitely take me some time, none of the steps looks tooo difficult.

Has anyone done this and got any tips?

  Belly pans
Posted by: Tanz - 02-04-12, 10:26 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (20)

Hi  - just got a Fazer 1000, Gen 1 in  black. 9000 miles and clean as a whistle.

Before that I had a ZX9R but I'm getting too old for pure sports bikes now, too uncomfy. I also had a BMW R1100 RS which I can best describe as a mistake! Vibey heavy slug  :'( . Previously CBR600FM, TTR250, GPz1100, XJ650, RG250, RD250DX and 3 x 350LC's..
I'm based down in Poole.

Anyway, trying to figure out which belly pan to get.. it screams out for one!

Has anyone got any decent pics of their bellypans to compare? Any comments on fitting and quality?
I'm looking for plain black (not carbon) to match the bodywork..

Cheers

Tanz

If you would like to sponsor me the Just Giving website is http://www.justgiving.com/dadonabikeforthekids
I havent seen my 2 children in 4 years these guys helped me get through it, too many children nowadays do not get to see both parents.

  Before I destroy another sensor
Posted by: seangee - 02-04-12, 06:34 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

Had to replace my speedo sensor in October (See here). I was fortunate enough to find one on e-bay and haven't seen one since, so I'd prefer this not to be a regular thing.
Followed all the checks recommended by Chitsu and everything checked out. Haven't done too much riding since as my employer packed me off to Poland for winter. Now I'm back and rejoining the daily rat race to London.
Last few days my speedo has been behaving erratically again (i.e. no, intermittent  or low readings). This time I have a bit more info:

  1. It only does it when I have the throttle open, if I need to check my speed (say because I'm coming up to a camera) all I have to do is close my throttle - which has the added benefit of slowing me down  Wink
  2. It doesn't always do it, but when it does closing the throttle always clears it
  3. It never does it at motorway speeds, problem seems to go away above about 60mph - presumably that's speed related as revs don't seen to make a difference
Anyone seen anything like it before or any suggestions on what to look for?

  Possible new clutch?
Posted by: FuZzBoM - 02-04-12, 01:31 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (14)

Hi all, had a nice ride out yesterday but noticed my bite point was near enough at the end of travel when letting it out. i adjusted on the engine side and then the cable but hasn't helped much.
I did notice the plain plates are rather close but unsure what the gap should be.

also when you depress the clutch lever (with engine off) and look through the oil fill hole the 1st set of plain plates and friction plates separate from the others.. is this correct? any other foccers able to check theres and let me know if theirs does the same?

the clutch does not feel as though it slips but i am worried because i am doing a tour of Ireland in May so i want it right before i go.

Many thanks,

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me the make of the Belly Pan in this picture and/ or where I can get one please...?!  I have seen them on many Fazers but can't find them on-line anywhere and the current owners hav all told me that it was already on the bike when they bought it.....[Image: 00003065-002.jpg]
Any direction would be gratefully received.

Thanks!
