Givi Top Box and fitting kit.
Posted by: steve pring - 29-04-12, 02:57 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Hi
I've been looking for one of these for ages and wasn't sure which one to go for and whether to go for new or second hand.
The second hand ones on evil-bay fetch silly money.
I settled in the end for a new V46 tech as I thought it would go well with my black gen 1.
Best price I could find was about £175 for the box and £87 for the fitting kit which comprised M5 plate and 348FZ arms.
Anyhow, I just was trawling through various other forums and came across a guy who had purchased the V46 tech box and fitting kit for his Honda from these folks in Italy for £200 inc delivery. It all arrived safely 5 days later.
http://www.accessorimotostore.com/index....anguage=en
So I have decided to take the plunge and have gone for it. Total cost for all 3 bits inc delivery was £195 which I thought was a result
I will update you when or if it arrives. So if any of you are thinking of doing the same, have a quick look at this site before buying.
Regards
Steve

Sorry - another tyre question (FZ1-N gen 2)
Posted by: Janet - 29-04-12, 12:20 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (10)

I'm going to need to change the tyres on my FZ1-N fairly soon. There's not much in it between front and rear, so I'll need a new pair. I've very nearly worn out the original Dunlop D221s. I think I'll get about 4500 miles before they need changing. While the originals are OK, they don't feel like the best tyres in the world. My first thought is Pilot Powers (NOT the 2CT ones though) as I've really rated them on my last two bikes, even though I've never liked any other Michelins that I've tried. I had them on an '06 R1 (rear worn out in about 5000)  and an '08 Hornet 600 (special fitment for the Hornet, rear worn out in about  4300). My concern is obviously how long they'll last on an FZ1-N in my hands. While the R1 was more powerful (and had the same sizes in standard fitments), the FZ1-N is quite a bit heavier. Does anybody have any experience of how they last on an FZ1-N and any views on how many miles I'm likely to get, given how far I've got on the OE tyres? I don't do a huge annual mileage, and Pilot Powers are fairly cheap, so I'm not looking for them to be really long lived, but I don't want to have to change them much before 4000 miles.

The other option, which I'm sure would last somewhat longer, is BT023s, but they're also about 20% dearer and probably wouldn't be quite so much to my liking.

I'd be grateful for any advice.

Thanks

  Ducati GP12
Posted by: Skippernick - 29-04-12, 12:04 PM - Forum: Diesels and Lawnmowers (Bike racing n things) - Replies (9)

So Hayden has put the GP12 onto third position for the race today, admitedly 1.0 sec off pole, and Rossi is the last prototype bike in 13th position, 3.5 seconds behind.
And i got slagged off for saying its not the bike its the rider, now i feel vindicated.
Don't get me wrong i am a fan of Rossi, but even Parrish is quoted in this months fast bikes as saying he is not the rider he once was.

Agruments start now.....

  Tyre choice
Posted by: fazerdude1 - 29-04-12, 11:40 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (39)

Hi all, can anyone recommend a good sports touring tyre for my 00(y plate) FZS600? I currently have Sportmax on front and rear, these are what was fitted when i bought the bike so stuck with a match when the rear needed changing. I'm not the sportiest of riders and would like to put a more durable tyre on for longer trips and a bit of rance this summer. Cheers.

  Alarm wiring loom
Posted by: FuZzBoM - 29-04-12, 10:11 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

Hi, i am planning to wire up the power for my satnav and luckily there is a ignition switch wire under the seat for the alarm circuit. my question is does anyone know how much load would be safe to put across it?

The satnav is only 1 amp max but the last thing i want to do is burn something out.
my other plan was to just be on the safe side and fit a relay.

I also plan to fit an alarm shortly so i guess that would be extra load on it.
