Tyre choice - fazerdude1 - 29-04-12
Hi all, can anyone recommend a good sports touring tyre for my 00(y plate) FZS600? I currently have Sportmax on front and rear, these are what was fitted when i bought the bike so stuck with a match when the rear needed changing. I'm not the sportiest of riders and would like to put a more durable tyre on for longer trips and a bit of rance this summer. Cheers.

i have dunlop roadsmart tyres and i cant fault them. i've probably done about 1000km on them and thers no real signs of wear on them yet so they should last well

Im running Bridgestone Battlax BT023s front and rear - cant compare to anything other than the worn out tyres I had before (BT016s) which were so worn it was an unbelieable change. In any case, im very happy with them so far both dry and wet

Run 6000 miles through mine and starting to show signs of squaring off, ok i don't rag it but my mate got the same milage out of a z1000 and he does rag his bike.

Michelin PR2's prob'ly last longest but also cost the most
Pirelli Diablo Stradas last nearly as long & were very cheap on M&P website recently
Bridgestone BT023's most people rate them highly too

Inlaw and myself both use avon storms on our fazers, get around 5000 out of a rear and no issues.previously tried Conti attacks they squared of at 3000 .

My PR2s are just about ready to need changing and they've done 7000 miles in all weathers. Very impressive grip levels. I'll be replacing with same.

Road pilot 2s are the best tyre I have had but they cost a lot. Mine are beyond worn now - getting another pair on Wednesday - but I did at least 11K miles............

a friend of mine has just fitted a pair of maxxis to his fz6,says he cant tell the difference from his old bridgestones and they were cheap,mine will need replacing shortly and i might give them ago

Just got some Road Pilot 3s.
What with the wet weather I've not really scrubbed them in yet - but they still offer confidence inspiring levels of grip.
As to the cost - yes - pricey. BUT for the odd 30quid for a pair in the scheme of things is good value for the wet grip that might save you from a spill which could cost lots worse....
