I have an 02 FZS 1000 fitted with a Datatool system 3 alarm, ever since I have had the bike the clock appears to set its self to a different time every time I set the alarm and leave it for a while. Anyone got any ideas why this my be happening? would love to have a clock that works.

Givi hard luggage question |

I have a full set of Givi hard luggage - top box and E41 monokey panniers.
On my previous FZS600 I used a wing rack when I wanted to use the full set - no problem.
I now have a gen1 1000 with a Givi monokey rack which I use daily for just the top box. If I want to use the full luggage set I could get a 1000 fitting kit for my wingrack and swap over to that. However that is a bit of a hassle and I don't like the wingrack on all the time 'cos it's fug ugly just for a top box.
You can get pannier rails (Givi PL349) for the monokey rack but advice from suppliers seems to be that these are only suitable for E21 panniers.
So my question is this. Are these rails restricted to the E21 panniers because of the attachment method or is it just a conservative weight thing? In other words would these rails allow fitting of my E41 panniers? Has anyone done it or used panniers other than the E21? If the E41 will fit is it safe - what does the esteemed knowledge of Foc-u reckon?

Hello all,
Violets Daddy from Norfolk here, aka Paul, been riding 15 years in all weathers, a daily commuter (don't talk to me about rain and hosepipe bans!!!)
Just bought myself a nice mark I FZS1000, in black and red.
Had a Fazer 6 about ten years ago that I really like but broke it, replaced it with a VFR and have had VFR's since.
Moving back to the Fazer as I've forgotten how good they are, hopefully pick it up tuesday.
Will post pics when it arrives and will then be fitting an oiler to it.
Got a trip across France at the end of next month that I'm looking forward to, the bike and I can spend a week bonding!
Hopefully if the rain stops I can join in on some ride outs if there are any in the flatlands of Norfolk...
Once again, hello all!!
Violets Daddy

Waterproofing kit |

Topical topic!
Went out on Monday night in my so-called waterproof textile jacket and encountered hailstones, torrential rain, drizzle and mud pies left by tractors
I was only out for 1/2 an hour and it took two days for my jacket (Aldi Crown) to dry out. It is over a year old now and has seen some weather but even had wet arms where the rain came through the outer layer and the thermal liner and as for my T shirt- well I rung that out :'( .
It is just out of the washing machine as it was pretty filthy (fluorescent yellow model)
So,....... cut out the middle man and throw it away or treat it with some wonder spray that will stop all future water getting as far as me?
Cant afford a new jacket at the moment so- treat it or go back to my old Weiss jacket that did at least have some semblance of waterproofing or plan B... dont ride when it is raining :rolleyes

Did anybody know that crash bugs are classed as a modification and can void your insurance if you do not tell your broker?
The only reason I know this is I own a 1999 Fazer and have added the decals form a 2000 Fazer. Last summer I had an accident with a driver who didn't see me (we've all been there). When my bike went in for repair my broker rang me up to say my bike was not standard and this may effect my claim. I politely told him to go forth and multiply as I was not claiming on my insurance but the other driver. He explained to me that any modification however small you may think it is must be declared.
My claim did go through without any problems but be warned.
Only issue I've got now is that I've got heated grips, a hugger, braided hoses, a gear indicator and luggage on the bike so getting a quote is a nightmare.

Hi
I've been looking for one of these for ages and wasn't sure which one to go for and whether to go for new or second hand.
The second hand ones on evil-bay fetch silly money.
I settled in the end for a new V46 tech as I thought it would go well with my black gen 1.
Best price I could find was about £175 for the box and £87 for the fitting kit which comprised M5 plate and 348FZ arms.
Anyhow, I just was trawling through various other forums and came across a guy who had purchased the V46 tech box and fitting kit for his Honda from these folks in Italy for £200 inc delivery. It all arrived safely 5 days later.
http://www.accessorimotostore.com/index....anguage=en
So I have decided to take the plunge and have gone for it. Total cost for all 3 bits inc delivery was £195 which I thought was a result
I will update you when or if it arrives. So if any of you are thinking of doing the same, have a quick look at this site before buying.
Regards
Steve
