  Spring on the gear selector
Posted by: mobile mouse - 08-05-12, 10:40 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (7)

I thought I was going potty.

Sometimes when going up the gearbox I change gear and when I want to change up again the foot lever moves as it is supposed to but there is NO gear selected.

Try again and you change gear as normal.
I thought I was going mad but I am not.....
It can happen between 2-3gear 4-5 and even in 6th.

You change gear and then you can move the gear selector as you do when changing gear but no gear is selected.
It's like the spring which returns the lever is getting tired.
Has anyone else come across this and if so what is the fix....

I found the following ....

http://www.yamahamotorcyclespares.co.uk/...HAFT&uid=0

see item 2 listed as spring torsion....

Been looking on the internet and there comments about shift shaft spring problems and people have commented about two springs.

A return spring and a much smaller 'reset spring' on the other side of the gearbox. Could they be getting tired.

Bike is a MY03 with 28k miles on the clock.
Help required.

Hello all,
Newbie from the emerald isle. Managed to crawl out from under the rock that is the irish economy and scrape the price of a 2000 Fazer 600 to get me back on the road after losing me 2 bikes 3 years ago. This place looks full of good info so I'm off to have a root around.
Cheers Colly

  Fazer down
Posted by: johnakay - 08-05-12, 06:01 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (11)

I was out on my bike and came across coppers and ambulance near Filingdale,
I notice a Fazer 1000 on its side,a grey coloured one.
don't know what had happened as the was no car's involve.
it appears to me he was either doing a wheely going up the bank or simply going to fast and lost control.
it amazes me after a winter lay off.
they seem to think they can just jump on the bike and carry on where they left off biking last year.I always take it easy for a couple of rides out and familiarise with my bike.
anyway I hope the guy is ok.

  Photography advice
Posted by: tomjimtom - 08-05-12, 04:56 PM - Forum: General - Replies (19)

Hi,
looking at the photo competition I can see there are some pretty good photographers on here Smile
(flattery over, advice needed)  :lol

I'm looking for a new camera to take on a 6 month jaunt round New Zealand in September.
My mother and brother have agreed to buy me one for my birthday, at around £150.
I'm looking at this type of thing:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fujifilm-FinePix...ce_title_1
because I like the look of the ridiculous zoom on it.

Can someone that knows what all those little numbers and letters mean have a little look over it and let me know if there's any standout reason why I shouldn't get it please Smile

Is it worth waiting (birthday isn't until early August) for other cameras to come down in price?

Any other recommendations within the price range?

Many thanks

Tom

  Surprisingly good service
Posted by: DryRob - 08-05-12, 04:47 PM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

I've been meaning to mention this for a while. I noticed a hole in my Motad stainless downpipes after about 6 months use so contacted Motad. The first guy I spoke to wanted the old pipes back for repair, which I thought was reasonable, but he went on holiday. The person who took over sent me out a new set without getting the old ones back, so I could stay on the road, and arranged for the old set to be collected at a time convenient for me. They even supplied replacement gaskets.

I was taken aback by how quickly and professionally they resolved it, it was all sorted in about 2 weeks and I didn't even have to chase them up or argue my case.

Very refreshing and will definitely use them in the future  Smile
