  Gen1 Fuel Gauge Under reading!
Posted by: fazer390 - 01-05-12, 11:31 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (6)

I had an argument with Merc early last year which almost wrote my gen 1 off (mainly cosmetic). When I got it back from the insurance company the fuel gauge underead by 1/4 tank!
I questioned this with them and they said they would take it back for a few weeks to diagnose and fix it. I could not afford not to be mobile for that time.
I believed it was the fuel sender & float in the tank and they agreed to send me a replacement.
After I received and fitted it - the fault was still there! I therefore decided to live with it.
Although now a year down the road it's really starting to frustrate me. Do you think it's the clocks / gauge? I'd rather not change them due to the mileage record etc... And/or can you able to calibrate / adjust the gauge needle reading?

Any advice / comments will be appreciated...

Wink

  Salut from France

Hello from the fabulous Hautes-Pyrenees.

We are a two Fazer household - he's fared and I'm naked.  We both started biking approaching 40 and at the same time planned our move to France.  Midlife crisis?

We've been here a little over two years and have almost finished our self build.  Now that its just a question of slapping some paint on the walls we might get out on the bikes more.  The roads are awsome.  And many still covered in snow at the moment...  Good job we ski, too!

We had an easy time of getting the bikes French registered but MUST get the headlights changed as they are still for riding on the left.  (good job there's no MOT equiv) Yamaha have quoted (gulp) 500Euros for a new replacement and yet second hand seem to go for 2-300 on line.  We'll have start visiting the scrappies.

  Bloomin Punctures!!
Posted by: Skinbeatersam - 30-04-12, 09:41 PM - Forum: General - Replies (17)

Oi Oi,

I have got another puncture on me rear tyre, in a nice central location, so should be easily fixable.

However, I have already had a puncture repaired on that tyre and I was wondering if there is a limit to how many mushroom plugs you can have. Is having two in there safe??

The tyre is only 1000miles old (bought in Feb) so I really don't want to have to get another one . . .

Road Pilot 2's btw.

Front sprocket Nut again - Sorry
Posted by: Skippernick - 30-04-12, 07:22 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Just cleaned and inspected my front sprocket, a quick measure and it appears to be 9 mm or so thick, should it be 12mm??
Its locked on with a bendy washer thingy and has about 1-2 mm of spare thread showing.
Probably original chain and sprockets.
02 fzs600 by the way.
Cheers for the help.
Nick
