Hi all, found this place as ive just bought an fsz600 98.

im a big yam fan, owning a:

divvy6s in the past - 7000 miles in 3 months, sold on for a proffit.
thundercat6 - 30k in one year - got hit by a lorry, but proffitted on the insurance Big Grin

and now got this fzs600, found in the local papers by the missus (who also found my thundercat!)

its a 98 model in red, completeley stock, 1 lady owner and just 7k miles on the clock.

never taken out in the rain, so as you would expect, its pretty mint, and im gonna be wrapping in in satingrey (which matches my cars) this weekend to keep the pain mint Big Grin

  MOT
Posted by: Fazer Jake - 04-05-12, 12:36 PM - Forum: General - Replies (8)

My bikes due its MOT in june, was going to get it sorted this month to get it out the way.
Unfortunately my rear tyre has a small brass nail in it i'm unsure of the size so i've just left it in as theres no problems with leakage i don't see the point in fixing it as i'll be getting some new tyres soon.
Is this an MOT fail? Also abit concerned my exhaust isnt road legal but i've heard a few place let em go through.

Fitting a Digi Gear on a Fazer 8
Posted by: FazerPete - 04-05-12, 12:04 PM - Forum: Fazer8 / FZ8 - Replies (22)

HI guys

Well the time came for me to part company with my trusted 2002 FZS 600.  She served me well but after 44,000 miles (and a quote of £500 labour to fix a busted exhaust engine bolt - labour alone) it was clear she was not going to last another year save me spending serious dosh on her.  So there she went as a part chop for the new Fazer 8.  Regrets - none so far but early days!

Anyway, taking into account that I was given the square root of zero as a part chop I decided to strip as many accessories off the bike before I exchanged and where necessary place on E-bay.  One piece was my trusted Datatool Digi Gear.  I had previously managed to wire her up to the FZS and it proved very trustworthy and I utilised it more than the speedo and rev counter.  So now the time has come for me to attempt putting her into the Fazer8.  Armed with the wiring diagram (thanks guys) I am still left wondering what wires go to where!

Is there anyone in here that can provide a basic "this colour wire on the bike goes to this colour wire on the digi gear"?

Thanks

  Warm starting problem
Posted by: akula - 04-05-12, 10:48 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

Just a quick question about my 2002 fzs600s with 8k miles. I've never had a problem with starting. Always fired first time on the button as a new battery was put in a month ago. However after being out on her for 30mins and stopped for 20mins and when trying to start her again she turned over but took a while to fire. That night she was harder to start again turning over for 1-2mins but she fired. At this point the fuel light had just came on so I filled her with fuel and she seemed to fire up fine again on the button. Another couple of cold starts later and she fired again fine but since another warm start she took 2-3 goes to get her to fire.

I had been thinking it was a fuel issue, possibly a bit of dirt in the tank as after she was filled she appears to be ok bar the 1 dodgy warm start.
Am I on the right lines or does this point towards another issue? I only bought the bike a couple of months ago. She was mint but I believe still has the original plugs.

Any opinions greatly received....cheers in advance!

Wanted - cheap seat for a Gen 1

If anyone has one of these lying around cluttering their garage up, I would be interested in purchasing it but note the title
As long as the underneath is in tact, it doesn't matter about the condition of the cover itself.
Many thanks

:eek

After a nice ride on wednesday and a relaxing day off for a change  :rolleyes

put some well needed miles on the fazer thou, and tested devilsyam R6 shocker which is brill by the way. :lol

I made a slight error and landed at my local bike shop, this is where i orginally bought the fazer brand new in 05.

I asked if they had any secondhand R1's for sale around 07 vintage, as i think it time the fazer got a stablemate.

Well they have'nt but he had a mint 07 GSXR1000K7 ! just come in as trade in as the bloke came in for an MOT on the gixxer and went home with a 12 plate R1.

well i could'nt resist it , so a thrilling test ride later i bought the gixxer thou . :eek

Well i didnt tell her indoors and spilled the beans as soon as i got home !  :o

as you probably guessed the reception was not good , my ears still ringing now!

i have been as nice as poss since divorce threat and promised to do more round the house etc ! and am slowly sweet talking etc, being attentive to conversation etc etc.

anyway pick the gixxer up later today, just hope it dries up a bit as im unsure the insane power is what i need on a wet road!

by the way the fazer thou still gets more attention than the gixxer, its a forever bike  :z

  Gen 1 grab rail
Posted by: 1967fazer - 03-05-12, 09:55 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (22)

Not sure if this has come up before, but, I recently took a lady friend pillion on a run. She had not been out on a bike for a long time but thoroughly enjoyed the ride out. Her only complaint was the horrible side grab rails on the 1000, I too found it difficult and uncomfortable as she tended to allow too much weight on me when braking.  Does anyone know of an alternative grabrail, one that loops over the back, to the crappy original ones. I don't really want to spend the vast fortune that Rentec are asking for their grabrails/sports racks!  Any ideas?
