Occasional Starting Problems - Any advice welcomed
Posted by: jonesthesteam - 31-05-12, 07:56 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (26)

Hi - On my '98 FZS600 I have an intermittent starting issue, sometimes it will start straight away on the button (hot or cold) and other times there is just a clicking noise, If I move (rock) the bike forwards or back whilst in gear it will then usually start on the starter again (not always, sometimes takes a few "rocks"), it can always be jump started if I happen to be on a hill

It has just had a brand new battery fitted so does anyone have an idea of what else may be causing this?

It's going into my local garage for service next week and they will look at it and are happy for me to supply parts (eBay) and they will fit for me, just wondered what I should be looking for or if anyone else has experienced the same? - starter motor, relays etc etc

Any help appreciated

Jonesthesteam

  Screen options for a 2003 FZ1000S
Posted by: robbits - 31-05-12, 07:21 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (20)

After a short ride on the motorway on Sunday and suffering a considerable amount of wind buffeting I wondered if anyone has any opinion as to the best screen option to avoid this. I have a double bubble sceen on at the moment and I'm about 5'11" tall. Also the bike has standard handlebars but I find the reach to the bars a little uncomfortable, especially for some reason on my left arm, I thought about fitting Renthals but which model and are they any good?

Thanks Steve.

  Lifting fuel tank
Posted by: Jamieg285 - 31-05-12, 01:25 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (13)

2000 MK1, when lifting the tank, i.e. only removing the front bolt, should the tank be prevented from tilting back too far?

I ask, as I was taking a look around on my recent purchase, there was some resistance as I got it lifted about 90 degrees, then something gave, and it swung back and laid on the seat.  I then found I couldn't swing it back without removing the long pivot bolt.

There seemed to be a lot of movement from the mounting rubber, which may or may not have contributed, but I wanted to find out how it is *supposed* to work before I  A, worry or B, try to do something about it.

Thanks,

Jamie

  Side Panels (colour coded)
Posted by: karlo - 31-05-12, 01:08 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

I have a couple of side panels for a fazer thou, I bought a pair and when one arrived it was damaged so I have been messing about with the breakers I got them from,
and he has sent me these early blue coloured panels, I have since got another pair and painted them for my own bike.

They aren't mint and have couple of marks, the paint job although very shiny isn't the best but I am very picky about paint work.
I am however quite sure they would look good once fitted (pity it's the wrong blue or I would keep them as spares).

I would prefer to do a deal for some standard black ones and a bit of cash?
Also I would like a local deal rather than post as I would prefer them to be viewed so the buyer knows what they are getting,

I am probably making them out to be worse than they are but as I say after spending a long time around the trade I am very picky.

Car insurance costs are set to be studied by the Competition Commission after the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) said the market was "dysfunctional".

  Hugger options
Posted by: Jamieg285 - 31-05-12, 09:43 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (2)

Hi all,

I'm looking for a hugger for my 2000, but the budget won't stretch to a new one. Does anyone know if there are any OEM huggers from other bikes, i.e. YSF600R that will fit the MK1 FSZ600?  I don't mind a bit of modification.

Failing that, anyone know where I can get a cheap one that will fit?

Cheers,

Jamie
