Setting Pilot Air Screws - Andy FZS - 06-06-12 I changed my oil and filter yesterday and I thought I'd check the pilot air screws (2 1/2 turns out "03" model) the outer ones aren't to bad and the LHS inner one is awkward but does anyone have any good tips on how to get to the inner RHS one? Cheers Andy Re: Setting Pilot Air Screws - red98 - 07-06-12 hi andy.....ummmmmmmmmmm no replys.i need to check mine and possibly adjust and was hoping someone would have a few tips...as far as i can make out theres just the one that is hard to reach.....might have a go today,i`ll let you know ![]() Re: Setting Pilot Air Screws - mcyoungy - 07-06-12 what's making it difficult to get at? on the thou I found the easiest way was to remove the starter motor - 2 bolts and it slides out. Re: Setting Pilot Air Screws - CRH - 07-06-12 what i did was to find a long, ish cross head driver!!....bend the end up approx 90deg,....that way it saves taking starter motor out? Re: Setting Pilot Air Screws - red98 - 07-06-12 ah....a couple of good tips there, cheers guys ![]() Re: Setting Pilot Air Screws - Andy FZS - 07-06-12 Cheers, yes I thought about taking the starter motor out, I guess that might be the way. I'm not sure how I would turn an "L" shaped screw driver 2 1/2 turns? Thanks Andy (Why do my smilies disappear?) Re: Setting Pilot Air Screws - His Dudeness - 08-06-12 cant see why they'd need to be adjusted unless someone has adjusted them incorrectly in the past Re: Setting Pilot Air Screws - AdieR - 08-06-12 I'm with Dudeness here - if the bikes running ok, I'd leave well alone; if it ain't broke... Re: Setting Pilot Air Screws - Andy FZS - 11-06-12 Yes I know what you mean about "If it aint broke don't fix it" but I've only had the bike a few months and can't be sure what been done in the past. So far I've balanced the carbs, changed oil & filter and set the air screws on 3 of the four carbs ( as found not correct) stripped cleaned and greased the brakes and the bike is much smoother than it was. I still have not got starting cold sorted (full choke, half, non?) it always needs some throttle but I'll keep experimenting. Cheers Andy |
