What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - MadDogMcQ - 06-06-12 I've noticed on a few parts/accessory sites that they differentiate between 01-03 and 04-05 FZS1000's. Why? Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - mcyoungy - 06-06-12 carb needle spacers changed in 03. frame colour changed for 04 I think. Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - ghostbiker - 06-06-12 might have been 03-04 the electrics changed VERY slightly with the loss of the headlight switch. or was that 02-03? to be honest there were very few changes on any of the years and 90% of those were minor/cosmetic/colour Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - mcyoungy - 06-06-12 good one - my 04 didn't have the light switch. Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - rjd1 - 06-06-12 my 53 plate aint got headlight switch Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - MadDogMcQ - 06-06-12 Thanks for the replies. Nothing to worry about then. Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - squitbit - 07-06-12 Anyone know if they changed the clutch lever? I've bought 2 off ebay for my 54 plate, both wrong. Pivot hole too small and the 'meat' around the pivot around 5mm too thin (as in the thickness of the metal around the pivot, measured flat to flat). Surprised me Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - ghostbiker - 07-06-12 not aware of any changes to leavers. i replaced mine with no issues Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - mcyoungy - 07-06-12 Sounds like your clutch perch has been changed at some point. The clutch lever is the same for all years up to 2012 and R1 99-08: http://www.yamahamotorcyclespares.co.uk/spares/partImage.asp?GPN=Z9%5D%5B%3D8%3E676655&uid=0&ShowAll=1 98 R1 perch and lever are different so *could* be one of them is on there. Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - chitsu - 08-06-12 The fork seal is thinner on the 04-05 (1C2 is it's model code). It is 9.5/10.5mm as opposed to 11/14.5mm of that fitted to the 5LV :eek Also the full wiring loom & ignition switch is different (due to the lack of a headlight switch). Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - squitbit - 08-06-12 I've had the bike since new and the clutch perch definitely hasn't been changed. Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - mcyoungy - 08-06-12 wiring harness changed at 03. Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - karlo - 08-06-12 Mine is an 03 without light switch. Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - mcyoungy - 08-06-12 (08-06-12, 12:02 PM)squitbit link Wrote: I've had the bike since new and the clutch perch definitely hasn't been changed. must be duff parts then eh? Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - pitternator - 09-06-12 I had an 01 bike, and now an 04 ..almost nothing diffrent apart from tank logos and no on off switch for the lights. I cant tell anything more minor than that. If you buy clutch levers off e bay its possible the seller has given you the wrong one.?? Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - MadDogMcQ - 10-06-12 Just found this... In 2001 FZS1000 Fazer launched: R1 engine and brakes, basic but capable chassis. The first Fazer 1000 was a massive hit. 143bhp at the crank – typical bikes dyno 122bhp at the rear wheel.
In 2003 it becomes available with a black engine (designation FZS1000S) and gets an updated instrument panel.
In 2004 the model code changes from 5LV to 1C2 but there are no significant technical changes.
In 2005 black frame, ECU and catalytic converter changes to cope with the latest emission regs.

Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - rjd1 - 10-06-12 mine is 53 plate no light switch black frame black engine Re: What changed in 2004/5 Fazer Thou's? - bwizz - 10-06-12 There was a restrictor in the exhaust collector in my 05 , which i believe was not fitted to the earlier models. I've removed it just held in with spot welds. |
