Whilst doing the brakes today i whipped off the hugger to clean up the chain guard only to find 5 holes drilled through the top of the swinging arm an inch or so apart. From past experience i know huggers can warp and rub so i assume someone decided to spread the tension to pull it square again. Am i right in being concern though that this has seriously weakened the swinging arm?

Hi guys. I went to clean up my calipers and change pads today only to find that the slider pin on one of the front ones is well and truely stuck. Seals are all good and im useless at bleeding brakes and want to avoid completely take it off. Im lamped and tried abit of oil and nothing (and yes i took the 2 R clips off first). Any suggestions that avoid taking it off or paying the shop to do it?

high mortar bed?? |

When laying bricks/blocks/ e.t.c i use about a 10mm mortar bed (cement & builders sand). if you make the bed higher it becomes weaker as there's no aggregate in the mix...is this correct? As you've guessed...I'm not a trained builder!
i ask because i need to put some slabs down in my garden. There steps and half of each slab will be seated on concrete. So i was going to lay them how i always have, normal mortar mix with around a 10mm bed.
but i messed up one of the steps when i was at the shuttering stage.(made it too low) So to even it out i need to lay one of the slabs on a bigger bed.....40mm would be perfect, 25mm would do.
If i mix up my mortar as usually but add say 1/2 builders sand and 1/2 sharp sand, will this allow me to use a larger bed but maintain the strength?
Hope that makes sense :o
cheers

Uncomfortable Bike |

Has anyone ever bought a bike that they just did not get on with?
I have a '00 FZS600 which I bought from the guy who bought it brand new, he only managed to put 3.5k on it in 12 years. so I was chuffed to bits when it came up for sale as it is in really lovely condition. However every time I ride it I cannot wait to get back home and stick it back in the garage.
I feel that it cants me forward and puts all the weight on my wrists and after a while my hands start to go to sleep. Also I find the seat / footpeg distance too short so that my legs are bent up. As far as I can tell the bike is standard, forks have not been dropped in the yokes and the dogbones on the rear suspension are standard length: 135mm
I tried renthal low bars and that improved it a bit, I went for an 80 mile ride and after 30 odd miles, same problem with my wrists and me arse joined in! Total misery! :'(
I next tried renthal highs, back to square one. I have had Bandit 600s, a ZRX1200R, Bulldog, Freewind and Breva 750 in recent years and I cannot recall ever being so uncomfortable. I know I could go on and get the seat refoamed and all that but I have had enough and will be putting the bike up for sale.
Its such a shame cos its a fantastic bike, handling, brakes, engine etc. Just does not seem to have been built for me: 5' 10" with 29" inside leg!!!

Engine bars V Crash bungs |

Having got a belly pan fitted I was told that the Yamaha bars would not fit and crash bungs were the only solution.
Is there any other bars that would do the job with out modifying the belly panel?
Are crash bungs a good solution?
I am thinking of doing gymkhana with the bike so low speed spills are highly likly.
