New guy here from the United States.  I ride a 2002 fz1 in liquid silver. I was linked here from fz1oa, and thought another yamaha forum certainly would be nice to have access to!

Hi all, just bought myself a Fazer 600 today 2000 model. Been off the road for a couple of years and feels good to be back. Had all sorts of bikes in the past including Ducati's, Aprilias, R1, Harley and even raced a little Hornet for a bit. Looking forward to getting some useful info off here

Ps if anybody on here has an FJ1200 I have lots and lots of bits to sell/swop for the Fazer bits I am after or to just good old sell.

Been meaning to join for a while as had a Cat D 54 plate FZ1S for two years to take the load off my other bike and loved it so much I bought a 59 plate in July having sold the 54 as I was finding it a tad heavy, and the newer one is lighter and slightly lower, making life a bit easier.
HOWEVER, there is a big downside, as I was getting 55mpg with the 54 Fazer and the 03 R1, the new one only returns 40mpg :eek
Resigning myself to this as it is so much fun and I don't get stuck trying to heave it off it's side stand if I park on dodgy camber!
Fitted with a Nitron shock and had to change the spring to suit my weight, as it was set up for 96kg guy, doesn't tear my shoulders out on the twisties, so another bonus, plus a 190 rear, which I am used to on R1.
So all in all happy with the change and off to France this weekend to see if it copes with the luggage too as well as the other bikes, which both had/have Baglux tank covers.

I have, for various reasons decided to sell my Fazer. It's my second and I got it in 2007. I got the first in 2000. I have been more than happy with both but this last ride will be only the 2nd time I've been out on it this year. So I am looking forward to the afternoon and I will head on up to Boston and beyond getting home at sunset. After this it will be put up for sale. Maybe in a few years I'll get another and start riding again, but for now Cio!

It appears that there is a genuine desire on the part of our politicians to sort out this mess and prevent people from being deterred from biking, which is good news! :thumbup

My front brake has gone soft.
It has more travel than usual but even stranger it loses all
pressure and the lever comes back to the bar and no braking at all.
squeeze again and back to soft pressure but brakes work.


Going to have a look at weekend but any ideas on where the likely fault is.
ie: master cylinder, calipers, lines,  everywhere??


its a 98 600 with 68K on clock and as far as I know original lines and calipers.

Has anyone removed a meta alarm from a gen 1?
Mine has failed completely and for the first time in over 4 years of ownership i had to get the AA to bring me home.
I am tempted to just cut every wire but i know this will make things worse.
Every wire is plain black and when i try to trace them they just seem to go deeper into the wiring loom.
Looking at some of them I cannot even see how they got access to the wires.
