  Dropped it...
Posted by: Kosmic Kartman - 06-09-12, 08:51 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (22)

First time, in eight years of ownership and I've now chucked it in a hedge. Total fuc up on my part.

I went to put the side stand up and I stood it up to far... and over to the other side. My garden hedge took the impact, but I had to fight my way into the shrubery to pick the Julie up. Damage: small scratch on the tank, scuff on the crash bobin, and my broken pride.

And it got worse later in the day. Flying a helicopter in the back garden after work. Airbourne for all of a minute and a small gust took it into another hedge. Damage: rear rotor blade broken, canopy cracked, and more broken pride.

Then later it got even worse. Spark ignitor on the cooker has now thrown a wobbly. The flame in the oven blew out and the ignitor did not re-ignite the gas, when most of the time while cooking the thing wouldn't shut up. Luckely I smelt the gas... from the other end of the house.

No my iphone pile of phoo has started to malfunction over wether there's a network on the sky.

  Gen 1 running really lean
Posted by: 1967fazer - 06-09-12, 04:07 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

More problems with the old girl, after getting the new gearbox fitted and then re-fitting the engine and then getting the exup valve to work and then setting the exup valve correctly, I thought, yeah, it should be lovely now....but no! The bike is now running incredibly lean, to the point of it "pinking" when under load, plus it doesn't seem to have much grunt low down either!
Is there anything I should be looking for? Is it worth checking on the TPS setting? ANy other suggestions?
The carbs haven't been touched during the strip down and rebuild, but could do with balancing. There is no Ivans fitted, which would probably cure a lot of issues, but I can't afford that just now!
Help!

  Top Box
Posted by: baggy - 06-09-12, 02:17 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

I am thinking of maybe fitting a top box to my Gen2, from the bit of reading I have done to fit the Givi rack you need to cut the undertray section. I looked at the Motech rack and it looks like its easier to fit as it just bolts on.

I was wondering if anyone had the Motech rack? If so was it easy to fit? How does it look on the bike?

Thanks for your help Big Grin

New guy here from the United States.  I ride a 2002 fz1 in liquid silver. I was linked here from fz1oa, and thought another yamaha forum certainly would be nice to have access to!
Cheers!

Hi all, just bought myself a Fazer 600 today 2000 model. Been off the road for a couple of years and feels good to be back. Had all sorts of bikes in the past including Ducati's, Aprilias, R1, Harley and even raced a little Hornet for a bit. Looking forward to getting some useful info off here  Wink
