Wanted - Big Tourer
Posted by: Topcat2006 - 24-09-12, 12:58 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (13)

Hi All,

I'm fed up with getting a numb arse on my 51 plate fazer 1000.

Does anyone have something like a Pan European / FJR1300 / BMW RT/K/GSA to swap for it?

The fazer has had a full service, new chain, sprockets and Scotoiler, nearly new tyres, new EXUP valve cables and freed off and refurbished valve.  The fork seals have been replaced and new oil and the forks set up.  The headlights have been modified to come on both together  (common mod).  Its MOT'd until May next year.

The mainstand and the sidestand have been de-rusted, holes welded up and repainted.

I can see no signs of it being dropped.

Its a 51 plate.  It has a full service history (although not all main dealer) and has around 41,000 miles on the clock.  (I use it so it goes up a bit).

  another suspension/preload question
Posted by: ddtwelve - 24-09-12, 11:51 AM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - No Replies

I went this weekend to have a look at the BMW f800st and when I sat on it the suspension was lovly and pliable not like my fz6 I couldn't mess with the preload on the BMW as was a customer's bike he just let me have a sit on it, the question is should the fz be more bouncy as when I sit on it on preload 3 setting I get the 25-35 mm preload drop or does my suspension need stripping and greasing, what preload do you use as im 90 kg with no bike gear :-S

Wanted: EURO headlights for a mkII FZS600
Posted by: Rookie75 - 24-09-12, 11:34 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (4)

Just moved to france and have a mint 2003 FZS600 with 13k miles (yes, it's shameful, but I used to work too hard!)

Wondering whether anyone who a bought grey import from Taz or elsewhere changed the headlamp unit and has a euro version gathering dust in the garage?  I'm thinking long shot, but worth asking before stumping up for new ones, to avoid putting silly stickers on mine.

If anyone has one, please email me, thanks.  Pete.

(P.S would be happy to do a straight swap if anyone has a mint unit)

  Blast from the past
Posted by: Rookie75 - 24-09-12, 11:18 AM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (3)

Was a regular foccer 10-11 years ago, but my account dropped off when things got snazzy on the website!  So after years of lurkdom I've re-registered.
Got a mint blue 2003 FZS600 with lovely carbs but proper headlights  Smile
Bike was mothballed for 4 years due to being busy at work and having nowhere sensible to keep the bike.  Just moved to France, bike now happily garaged but yet to be froggified.  Currently uninsured so limited to riding 20m up and down the drive to keep her turning over!  Managing to resist the temptation so far.
Hoping to find someone with some Euro headlights to sell so I don't have to have silly stickers on mine or stump up what Yamaha will surely want for new ones.
Good to see the site is still going strong!

  Home CCTV
Posted by: Streetbudgie - 24-09-12, 11:15 AM - Forum: General - Replies (45)

Anyone got any pointers for a complete newbie to home CCTV?

I want to protect the new garage with a camera at each corner and I'm thinking I'll probably use about 3 more to cover the side and front of the house.

Don't really have a clue where to start except to say they will have to be wireless as I can't start running cables aroudn the house now it's decorated.

Acerbis Dual Road Motorcycle Hand Guards Black Handguards
Posted by: DanielT - 24-09-12, 10:52 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (1)

I bought these last week assuming they would fit my FZS600, but they don't.  They would knock the headlight fairing when I put the steering on full lock.  I had already fitted the throttle side before realising this, so I cannot sell them as new, but they are basically new - the clutch side has never been out of the box!

These are the hand guards I mentioned on this thread: http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,486.0.html

They are on ebay, but if any one from here wants them, DON'T buy them on the ebay listing.  Let me know and I will end the listing and not charge postage. So that's £50 delivered.

  new key from ignition barrel
Posted by: green_rider - 24-09-12, 10:19 AM - Forum: General - Replies (11)

As some of you know I'm rebuilding an FZS600. I'm waiting for the key to be posted from Australia (long story), but if it doesn't turn up I need to find another solution. Can the key be cut from the barrel? Has anyone had this done before? I've got no way of finding out the key number and the ignition barrel doesn't seem to have a code on it anywhere.

5LV bits for sale, mainly graphite, some black
Posted by: Grandma - 24-09-12, 07:46 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (15)

Have a few Gen 1 Fazer 1000 bits cluttering up the garage, Graphite nose cone with indicators and petrol tank (this may have a small dent), black new pillion grab handles, standard slip on can, carbon type hugger.
If anyone interested please send pm and I can send photo's, offering here first before I put on E Bay.
Will list other bits as I come across them, all this because I was looking for the plug spanner to fix the mower and it was buried under Fazer bits I no longer need, as have Gen2. :\

  IT help please
Posted by: Tiberius Onklevaart - 24-09-12, 02:27 AM - Forum: General - Replies (18)

Can any IT bods help?
I decided to reinstall Windows. Deleted partition and full format from CD. Forgot to back up all the drivers. Not that it would have mattered, as it seems I have mostly no hardware, ergo, VGA display, no Ethernet, soundcard and probably some other stuff. How can I get XP to recognise the hardware that's in the system and how then can I install the drivers? For info its a Dell Latitude D531 with XP SP2. ATI card and connexant something or other. Many thanks in advance
