FZ1 Touring Screen
Posted by: Fazian - 24-03-20, 04:20 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (15)

Can anyone recommend a screen for the FZ1? I'm 6' 1" and would like to divert as much air around me as I can as I felt like I was going to get blown off the bike the other day.

Cheers  Smile

  First Ride on Sunday
Posted by: Fazian - 23-03-20, 08:53 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Took the FZ1 out on Sunday on my first ever ride on it and must say it's bloody fast  :eek

Haven't ridden a bike on public roads for over 30 years but it soon came back after about 20 mins. Stayed out for nearly 3 hrs just sticking to speed limits and country roads mainly as I just wanted to get used to it before I go out on a more regular basis in the summer.

Got muscles aching in places I didn't know I'd got  Big Grin  I think I may have been tensing up a bit. Went past a well known biker cafe while out and there must have been close to 100 bikes there all in close proximity and getting coffee's from some sort of portable outlet...bit risky given the circumstances.

Must admit it felt like the wind was trying to blow me off it...may need a bigger screen!!  Smile

  Speedo Cable shorting - revised!

Hello,

So looks like my speedo cable has been routed incorrectly and I found it being sliced in half by one of the front discs. Does anyone know it the cable is its own part that I can replace or does it belong to the (expensive) sensor assembly?

  Gen 1, 2003 FZS 1000 Engine & Frame with V5 for Sale
Posted by: Reaper - 22-03-20, 01:36 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (3)

Having sold most of the 2003 Gen1 that I was breaking I'm now left with the Engine and Frame which will also come with it's numbers matching V5.
So I'm selling it off as one lump for what I think is a pretty cheap price as I would just like it out of my way now. Engine had around 43K on it and ran fine prior to the bike being stripped.

All details can be found here as I'm now having trouble loading pictures to the website. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143556031812
I'm looking for £150 for the lot with collection from me in Worthing, West Sussex.

Broken exhaust studs ..... oh dear ...
Posted by: RedClive - 19-03-20, 05:56 PM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (9)

Two of the exhaust studs have broken on the 2004 FZ6 I recently purchased  :'( .  Yes I guessed they had never been undone since new and yes I should have cut, or tried to cut, the nuts before I broke the studs, but I didn't.

Today I've tried adding another nut and welding it on with my Aldi Arc welder.  I got a fair weld but the stud sheared again just under where I welded it and I've now got a little less left than shown on the picture (link) below.  No signs of movement (with the exception of one that came out with the nut) and I don't think I'm getting enough heat into it.

A friend is coming around on Saturday with his Mig who has successfully extracted a couple before using this technique, but I'm not too hopeful (and somewhat crapping it in case I end up having to take the head off  :\ ).

I'm thinking the best thing might be to cut and weld some threaded bar onto what I've got left and grind it down with a dremel.

Anyone got any (non depressing) thoughts?
