I am sure I had that in the 70's. The man with the lorry would come round and sell us bottles of the stuff. Things like Cola, Fizzy Orange and worst of all, Dandelion and Burdock. Once we had a couple of glasses, we would feel ill.

Are the parts identical to Yamaha originals?

I need to order both left hand side indicators and a mirror.  I don't want to find they look different to the other side.

Failing that it'll be an Ebay job.

  Can W-rated tyres be repaired?
Posted by: roxburd - 23-01-20, 05:38 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

I picked up a puncture this afternoon - rear Metzeler Roadtec 01 180/55 ZR17
It's done about 2,000 miles.

The entry point is about 1cm left of the centre-line and it's on a proud part (not hidden in a tread channel). You can see a 5mm-long line where the tyre has been damaged.

The garage who fitted it says "Ooo, you can't repair W-rated tyres, no, that'll be ker-ching for a new one".

The other fella down the road says "Some manufacturers say 'No repairs' and others say 'Yeah, fine' and there's no rhyme or reason. If it's a nice neat hole like a nail has gone straight in and out then it should repair just fine. If it's more of a cut then no."

What's the deal? I'm tending toward getting a new tyre for the obvious reasons but I'm also thinking "I've had so many bike tyres repaired over the decades, are tyres suddenly not repairable any more for some reason or are people just more risk averse / grabbing?"

Has anyone had a workshop-fitted repair fail??

  easy oil change
Posted by: coffee - 22-01-20, 11:47 PM - Forum: General - Replies (11)

I'm the owner of an old Merc and my daughter has one a bit newer, because of the crazy prices garages charge nowadays I try and do most of the servicing myself. One giant ballache with both of these is the underside trays which go the full length of the car and to access the drain plugs you have to get these off which means jacking the car up,putting it on axle stands to get the height to scramble underneath and pissarse about undoing the screws, getting the trays off just to get at the plug and when you've done the job doing the reverse.I looked at vacuum pumps some time ago but nearly all of them leave to much oil in the sump so deafed it out,but a mate of mine told me about a Sealey one,he said they're a bit more expensive than most of them but he said they almost scavenge all of the oil out.I bought one last week cost £60 and after using it I wish I'd got one years ago,it's absolutely brilliant,I really can't see how there can be much oil left when you've finished using it because it's the same amount as specified and anyway the drop that would be left wouldn't be a problem.A great bit of kit! :thumbup

  SOLD: 2005, FZS1000 - SOLD
Posted by: b1k3rdude - 22-01-20, 09:02 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (17)

Like the bandit the Fazer has been cleaned, mot'd and made ready for sale. The bike is in good condition for age and has 35k on the clock, it was my sunny day weekend fun machine bike but am looking to upgrade. The bike comes with the following accessories -

  • Full Ivans kit install by our own Mike/Falcon - Dyno'd @133Bhp at the rear wheel.
  • Devilsyam R6 shock, w/10k on.
  • Genuine Yamaha colour coded Belly pan
  • Genuine Yamaha colour coded rear hugger.
  • Double bubble dark screen.
  • Matching span & length adjustable clutch and gear levers - (these are special in that they will also fold and NOT snap in the event of a drop)
  • Meta TV2 immobiliser alarm with keyfob and spare fob.
  • Oxford Heated grips.
  • Bike-it indicators with indy spacers.
  • Blind spot mirror on r/h mirror pod.
  • Front fender extender.
  • Front braided brake hoses.
  • LED spotlights - these make a massive improvement to the night-time viability.
  • LED headlight bulbs - same benefit as above
  • LED indicator bulbs.
  • LED rear light bulbs.
  • LED instrument cluster bulbs
  • R&G crash boddins - these are the large type, wont bend or snap.
  • R&G front fork and swing arm sliders.
  • Akrapovic titanium end can.
  • Braided front & rear hoses.
  • Stainless steel Rad guard
  • Titanium rear Sprocket, Rear Axel nuts
  • Titanium exup exhaust valve bolts - (as well all know the stock bolts are a joke).
  • Haynes manual.
  • Handlebar risers.
The tyres are practically brand new and the  chain & sprockets were fitting not that long ago..

I'm looking for £3k which is a fair price considering all the extra's it has (pretty much most of the addon's/accessories owners put on this bike). And the bike is better condition than all the ones on Autotrader atm.

  Help Repairing My Beloved FZS
Posted by: Middy2000 - 22-01-20, 07:33 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (25)

So I took the bike in for it's MOT. Passed without advisory.  She's a 2001 with just 10k on the clock and in immaculate condition.  Filled her up with petrol on way home and as I turn out the petrol station the arse end kicks out and she goes down on the left hand side.

To say I'm devastated would be an understatement.

Damage sustained.

Alternator casing smashed.
Mirror Scuffed
Front Fairing Smashed
Front Indicator ripped off
Rear fairing scuffed
Bar end scuffed
Clutch Lever scuffed
Rear indicator scuffed
Gear pedal bent
Rear pillion peg bent
Tank dented and scuffed

I rang the insurance who wrote it off in an instant.  Initially I was happy with this as I had spat my dummy out and that was me done for biking.

I've calmed a little and have now put the recovery on hold whilst I assess the costs to repair.  It's looking promising but I'm stuck on a few bit and could do with some help.

1.  Are the parts from Wemoto genuine Yamaha parts.  They have the clutch lever, indicators and mirror.
2.  Has anybody fitted one of the front fairings from Ebay.  Comes from Poland.  Looks a good copy.
3.  Where can you but the plastic rivets that hold the front infil panels from?
4.  Anybody got a perfect rear left pillion peg?
5.  Likewise for a alternator cover although I can get a used one from Ebay and have it stripped and powder coated.
6.  Can you get the metal screws the hold the front fairing to the frame near the petrol tank?
7.  Is there a company that can remove dents from petrol tanks?  It's similar to a car park trolley dink on a car door.  Think the handlebars caused it.

I'm basically throwing myself at the mercy of you all to help me through and get her back to normal.

Advice getting the front nose cone off would be useful too.  I think I'm nearly there but is there a guide on here somewhere?
