  Hello im new
Posted by: wezdavo - 27-09-12, 07:52 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (2)

I have recently passed my test and have bought a 03 fazer 600..
I have always been into bikes, motorcross was my first taste with my beloved yz250, which incidently was always a bit much for me on the track but i plodded on anyway.
A few years ago i decided to get a bike for work as running two cars was getting abit expensive, so i decided to get my cbt and buy a 125 yamaha scooter, which i traded in after a year or so and got a Derbi terra, also a 125..
My cbt ran out so i decided to take the plunge and do the direct access and that brings me upto around a month ago..
I have always been fond of these bikes (fazer) and i am looking forward to learning all there is to know about them, hopefully with the help of you guys Smile
Thanks, Wez

  Dropped forks - experiences?
Posted by: Fuzzy - 27-09-12, 07:08 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

My Fazer's front wheel was hit by a passing car (tore a hole in the bike cover too, bastards!) and it knocked the alignment out, so today, I was tinkering with the forks to get them back straight.

Anyway, when I was tightening the yolk bolts back up I thought I'd give dropping the forks by 10mm a go (or at least that's how much of the tube is protruding out the top yolk).

Gave it a test run and it feels completely different, holds it's line alot tighter in corners. "Feels planted" is the phrase I'd use. Not sure whether I'll keep it this way or not, I like being able to flick it around in London traffic, and the Fazer is good at that when normal.

What are the disadvantages/ risks of this set-up? Anybody have any interesting experiences with dropped forks, or can recommend a set-up that works for you?

Thanks  Smile

  FZ1s dimensions
Posted by: wibblywobbly - 27-09-12, 03:58 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Hi all

I look likely to return to the fold over the weekend. I used to have a Fazer1000, Ivanised by the one and only, sold it about 3 years ago and bought a 1050 Tiger...great touring bike, but not 'me'. Went to live in France for a year, left it parked in the lounge most of the time, and when I came back last year I sold it.

Now looking to pick up an FZ1s at the weekend, however, I am hoping to get it in the back of my T4 campervan. Snag is that the free floorspace is only 28" wide, and this bike has the fairing panels on. So does anyone have an FZ1S with fairing panels who can tell me the widest point of the bike. The specs say 30", but I don't know if this is across the tips of the pegs.

I really am trying to avoid riding it back as the weather forecast is grim and its a long, long way!

Cheers

Rob G

  Tyre Review
Posted by: knoxy - 27-09-12, 12:09 PM - Forum: General - Replies (19)

Ive had Pirellis as long as I can remember always thought them a great tyre.

When I bought my FZ6 Fazer S2 it had Maxxis supersport tyres on it and to be honest I thought I would be changing them PDQ (being a tyre snob).

However...

They have been fantastic!!!

Ive just changed the rear for a Maxxis Diamond which is the sports touring version, it was £140 fitted.

Again I think its a super tyre feels very secure wet or dry.  This has made me change my views on tyres and I would be happy to recommend Maxxis. Never thought I would be saying that!!!

  It's been a year
Posted by: Farjo - 27-09-12, 08:37 AM - Forum: General - Replies (11)

Well, yesterday it was - a year since we moved from Yuku. We've had server issues and lost some old members (notably Lum Sad) however the club seems more lively, we're getting more new members and the daily postcount has risen from about 50 to well over 100.

Well done to you all for adapting to the new site and getting through the first year niggles. I'm sure that given some decent weather the coming year will be even better Big Grin

  It's too much!
Posted by: MadDogMcQ - 26-09-12, 11:17 PM - Forum: General - Replies (24)

I'll have to fill up again on Friday and that will mean that I've spent over £170 on fuel in one month!!! And that's purely "Fun Fuel", not commuting. Truth is, I just can't afford to spend that every month.

On top of that, I always end up spending more when I'm out on the bike because I go to places and become a tourist every weekend :lol .  I guess I need to stay in more or get a 125  :'(

Is anyone else feeling the fuel-pinch?

is 70 miles a day too much ?
Posted by: phillywilly - 26-09-12, 09:36 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (42)

just accepted a new job that is a 70 mile round trip per day and was thinking of using the fazer in the spring /summer to get there but because its only 600 cc i was thinking that it wouldnt be up to the job -even tho its only done 25 k and regularly serviced.
does anyone else commute on their bike this distance in the good weather ?- i know its only 70 miles per day but that would be 5 days per week (weather permitting )
perhaps we should have a sticky thread on here stating how many miles our bikes have done and if they are on first engines  Wink
