Police and Crime Commissioners

Is anyone voting? You can see your candidates from this link:  http://www.choosemypcc.org.uk/

I thought that the candidates would be ex-policemen, but in my area the 2 candidates are both representing political parties. The Labour candidate was a member of a Police Authority but the Conservative candidate appears to have had no prior connection to the police at all.

What is the point of these elections? How can we, at the next election, know if they're doing a good job, what with our journalists? And given that some people would never vote conservative and others would never vote labour,  there's not even a real choice of candidates.

  youtube near miss etc
Posted by: caretaker - 26-10-12, 09:09 PM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

just been trawling youtube as you do, and i'm amazed at the amount of bikers posting near misses, close shaves etc on there. the thing is, if youre aware of whats going on around you and expect drivers to do stupid things, then they arent near misses at all. Technically, i probably come across several near misses on a 2 hour hoon, but they arent because i read what drivers are doing. occasionally i've been caught out, but generally my ride outs are scare free. i'm fed up of riders whining about how careless drivers are. get used to it!      End of rant.

FORGIVING FAZER & TYRES THAT TALK
Posted by: SEPTIKANGEL - 26-10-12, 07:51 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (14)

Out of the house, turn left at lights, one and a half miles up dual carriageway (how I love my Full Monty) and flip flop thru small Roundabout.
Or so I thought, it was about 6 degrees today, bloody cold North wind too, but dry.  As I chucked it into the Roundabout, flip left was no problem, then front end went  :eek as I began the flop right, but now I was on opposite lock with the front clearly sliding, maybe the back too.  I recall my right boot, still on peg, sliding on road and thinking 'here we go'  -  must have been holding back a little 'cos my Guardian Angel was still with me, I was somehow able to correct (or was it me?) for the 'flip' left back onto the dual carriageway straight ahead and carried on with a big grin.  Oooohhh, adrenalin  eh?  :b  Just another 'moment' I know and we all have 'em, ('specially with cold tyres) but one that made me think once more, just how good and forgiving my Fazer Thou' is and how I love my Bridgestones that talk to me without just bin bagging me straight off.  (Old BT020's too - 23's next Spring)

  2000 Yamaha Fazer 600
Posted by: thom_1991 - 26-10-12, 06:31 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (6)

Year 2000 Yamaha Fazer 600 for sale. Generally decent condition, fork bottoms a bit tatty, mechanically brilliant. Located in Buckingham. Approximately 26,000 miles. 9,000 of which have been covered by myself over the last year and a half. In that time I have;

Changed the oil and filter 3 times.

Fitted a K&N air filter and NGK iridium spark plugs.

Balanced the carbs twice and reset the Throttle Position Sensor.

Fitted Goldspot calipers on the front as the standard bluespots were looking tired.

Zx6r front master cylinder with EBC HH pads and braided hoses all round.

Fazer 1000 bluespot rear caliper (the standard 600 one always seizes without fail)

3.5" front wheel allowing 120 rather than the standard 110 size tyres to be fitted, giving a much larger choice of rubber

New this year Stainless Motad Venom headers (the standard 600 ones always Rot without fail)

New rear Michelin Pilot Power, the front is still good with about 3mm left in the middle and a little more on the edges.

New head and rear wheel bearings along with seals.

New chain and sprockets fitted this year along with the updated front sprocket nut (the standard one isn't man enough and usually ends up lunching the gearbox output shaft if not replaced)

Scottoiler so the new chain and sprockets will last for ages with minimal maintenance

Taxed till the end of November, and test till May next year.

Looking for £1300 ono

If I get the asking price I will also include the standard bars complete with heated grips ready to plug in for the nasty weather and
the standard footrests.

Many other bits I'd be willing to part with for a little extra:

Seat cowl

Nitron race shock (choice of springs!)

K-tech linear 0.85kg/mm fork springs

Spare fairing

Standard 3" front wheel with 110 Pilot Power

  anyone fitted a quickshifter?
Posted by: His Dudeness - 26-10-12, 01:29 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (13)

I have a quickshifter and it has rose joints on the end of it like in the picture below

I'm just wondering if this type of joint can be used with the ball on the end of the standard fazer shift mechanism or will I have to modify it?

  What's better, LoveFilm or Netflix
Posted by: JZS 600 - 26-10-12, 11:27 AM - Forum: General - Replies (7)

anybody tried them yet? I'm on love film but getting fed up with sending the DVD's back etc and end up not using it as much as I could. So I bought the wife a Kindle Fire HD for Xmas (a bit sneaky but HEY!) with the intention of setting up an on line film account as it has an HDMI out to the TV.

Apparenty she can read books off it as well,,,,,,,,,,
