Oops testing circuit and blew a fuse.
Posted by: mobile mouse - 07-01-13, 02:18 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

Hi,

Classic not thinking and rushing in to quickly test something.
I Tried to test the front brake lever switch wiring this morning.....
Switched electrics on (turn key to ON) and tested back brake, tail lights up.
Tested front brake, no tail light. So...
Pulled off connectors and proceded to put a wire loop in too light the tail light.......

BUT forgot to switch OFF electrics, first. I put the test loop into the +ve first by mistake (not the bulb side) and the other end touched the chrome handlebars....Poof..

As a result, I have NO headlights now. Also tested the back brake, no tail lights. Didn't try indicators walked away and will get back tonight.
So my first question is which fuse will have blown the fuse (head light) or fuse (signal) or a another or all.

I can test the fuse (signal) buy trying the horn as this looks to come off that circuit.
But I am a little stumped as to where the fuse (head light) is situated on the Fazer it's a MY03.

Other than the fuse box which I am a little unsure which is which fuse... I have a Haynes manual and will be looking in that tonight but any help would be appreciated.

  Phone mount
Posted by: DryRob - 07-01-13, 01:17 PM - Forum: General - Replies (13)

I want to use to use my phone as a satnav by mounting it on the handlebars, there's plenty of kit available on the net but I was wondering what others have tried? I want to keep the phone dry and charged but not too bothered about listening to the directions.

  what a mess....help plz?
Posted by: reillypadraig - 07-01-13, 10:04 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (18)

hey guys, first post and i need some help already,

intro first, the names padraig, i live in ireland and myself and my mate bought a fzs600(1999) a few months back.

we bought it fairly cheap 700 euro for it, it was manky dirty and the guy we bought it of had half put in a new engine and didnt know what wires went where or where any bolts were,

so we managed to get bolts and find wires and got it alltogether and wouldnt start on the button so i got pissed of and brought a wire straight form the blue wire in the starter relay and have it now attached to the pillion peg and start the bike that way by grounding it of the peg( i know i know).

so it was running ok until now, so i synced the carbs and got them fairly close just the first cylinder was running .5cmhg more than the rest which is nothing.
but still it wont idle right, i have cylinder 1,2 and 4 running lean(guess because the sparks are a little white, and 3rd is black so running rich). i have then the carbs out 5 times in the last 2 days and its getting enoying now, do i just ajust the needle on 1,2 and 4? and aswel as the bobbing needle as i call it that opens and closes with the floats moving up and down, the internal spring is gone on my 4th cylinder side i.e the little nib is dead flat to the case but the needle still works fine, does it need to be replaced?

the reason for all of this is that this bike was left out in the weather and not moved for years.

so where do i go with the starter button? i dont think i have any power at the button at all, (im going to get a ohm meter at it today to find out for sure)and all the connections i have cleaned. so is it the main relay thats gone?

also my fan only seems to work if i start the bike with my little wire and leave it touching the frame(i know, this also causes the starter motor to run, but i have left the bike running for a long time and fan just wont kick in, thermostat seems ok........

too many problems in the one post........... :'(

Simple really Do they let the bike run properly or do you need the originals,

with me turning mine naked i would much rather have digital koso or acewell but have heard that you need the originals for the fazer to run correctly

Is This True????

My fazer has been standing for 2 1/2 years apart from new battery and oil and filter, should I just  chuck in some fresh petrol and hope for the best? Or any other tips?

  Alternator upgrade?
Posted by: Jc72 - 07-01-13, 01:17 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Is it possible to put a better alternator on as the standard one is not doing its job, battery is always on an optimate, but if on a run with lights on and heated grips, stop for fuel and it may not start again, it's done this with 2 new batts, if lights or grips are off its ok, was thinking of an odysey battery to go in instead of the usual ones, any ideas?

Hi all, my name is Justin, and in the past I had an 02 fazer 1000, and I've just been given an 03 600, last of the carved models I believe , it from my uncle, who strangely enough has my old 1000, the 600 has been standing for 2 1/2 years, and there's a few issues with it before it went of road, nothing major, so lots of questions will be hitting this forum very soon. Oh yeah I live in port talbot, South Wales .
