A question about FZS600 engine noise..... - packie - 10-01-13 My engine seems to emit noises that are more noticeable from the left hand side when you are sitting on the bike. It's noticeable on cold starts until it really warms up. When you pull in the clutch, the noise goes instantly, or it will go eventually after 20-30 mins of driving after the bike is really heated up. It also went away after a carb sync. Unfortunatley, the carbs were out not long after the sync and the noise is back again, so the carbs may be out again after being disturbed. Anyway...question is, is this a normal trait with the FZS 600? The valves are perfect and the camchain and tensioner were replace recently. The noise was there before and after the camchain change and it doesn't sound anyway near like a camchain problem anyway. It sounds more like something going on in the clutch especially when it goes away instantly when you pull in the clutch even a little. Your thouoghts please............... Pakie Re: A question about FZS600 engine noise..... - Lawrence - 10-01-13 My clutch is a bit noisy too, I think it's fairly common. Doesn't seem to affect how it rides. Re: A question about FZS600 engine noise..... - Jc72 - 10-01-13 Every bike I've had make a noise that goes when you pull the clutch lever in, just be grateful you ain't got a Ducati , have you heard the clutch on them, :eek sounds like a bag of rusty bolts Re: A question about FZS600 engine noise..... - packie - 10-01-13 Sound lads..... I have no problem in putting up with the noise, some of my old jap bikes like the Yamaha XS1100 were as noisey as a badgers ass, I just wanted to be sure that it wasn't anything that needs seen to, or could be expensive if ignored down the road. The bike is running fine and smooth. The only complaints would be sometimes she labours briefly when pulled from very low revs even in 1st or 2nd gear. The other complaint would be the 1st to 2nd gear change. You want to change gear quickly to get a smooth gear change. If it's anyway up the revs, it can sound if it's crunching its way into gear. Re: A question about FZS600 engine noise..... - JZS 600 - 10-01-13 That's the way it goes man, welcome to the club! Re: A question about FZS600 engine noise..... - darrsi - 10-01-13 Sounds like you're describing a worn clutch cable to me. Re: A question about FZS600 engine noise..... - reillypadraig - 11-01-13 It's the exact same on mine. Clutch pulled in and no noise, clutch out and it rattles, thought it was the anti judder springs on the back of the clutch basket, it wasn't. Might be a natural problem with bearings, the new engine I got has only 15,000 on it and already noisey. Must have been that way from almost new Re: A question about FZS600 engine noise..... - packie - 11-01-13 (10-01-13, 10:49 PM)darrsi link Wrote: Sounds like you're describing a worn clutch cable to me. That's a possibility. I noticed the clutch cable wasn't "quite right" and free as ones on other bikes that I had. I picked up a spare and i'll swap them over and see what happens. Cheers, packie Re: A question about FZS600 engine noise..... - reillypadraig - 11-01-13 I also have a spare cable if u need one, Also packie I sent u a pm about that caliper & master cylinder Re: A question about FZS600 engine noise..... - packie - 11-01-13 (11-01-13, 02:16 AM)reillypadraig link Wrote: I also have a spare cable if u need one, Sent you a reply, Padraig. Mine is more of a slight rumble from the right side at tick over which stops when you pull in the clutch or put your ear plugs in :lol Check the sprocket nut because when it goes its own way it can make funny sounds from the left side. The labouring briefly in low gears could be the TPS out of adjustment.
