  28000 mile service
Posted by: xrigger - 08-01-13, 04:23 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (1)

Hi, my '99 fazer600 has now done 28000 miles without any probs. It has service history up to 24000 miles. I do oil / filters myself, swing arm stripped and greased so no excess play, brakes ok and generally seems in good condition. Any suggestions on what I should be doing for next service would be appreciated. :rolleyes

  Tank scuffs
Posted by: alexanderfitu - 08-01-13, 03:47 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Hi all

I was having a look at the bike today and I have some scuffs on the bottom of the fuel tank at the front where my jacket has been rubbing Sad They arent bad just some surface scuff. I have some transparent plastic on its way, but was wondering what the best way to get rid of them is?

Thanks all

Fitting a Koso or Acewell speedo. Potential problems?
Posted by: Ruby Racing - 08-01-13, 02:17 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

Hi guys. This is only my second post, I have introduced myself in the correct area already so please don't shout at me.

I have done some searching but can't find the definitive answer, so maybe someone can give me lowdown.

I was planning to buy a crashed 2001 FZS600 as a project bike. Of the things I want to do is change the speedo to a Koso aftermarket unit and fit USD forks. From my searches I see that I may have BIG problems due to the speedo drive on the front wheel, the speedo and the TPS all needing to "talk" to each other in order for the bike to run correctly. If that is indeed the case has anybody managed to do away with the OE speedo and the speedo drive without encountering any running problems? If so how do you do it?

I notice the Fazer pictured at the top of this forum has USD forks and so maybe the problem can be got around? Or is that picture just a Photoshop job?

I told the seller that I'd give him an answer within the next 24 hours so would be grateful to hear from anyone who can advise me.

Thanks.

  Hello!

Hi Folks, nice to meet you all.

Just joined up because I'm a potential owner. Thinking of buying a crashed FZS600 as a project bike, however need an answer to a question before I buy. I've posted that in the correct section, er hopefully.

Had good trawl through but can't find a definitive answer.

Anyway, hopefully the answer to my question will be positive and I'll end up a regular on here.

  Morning all! New FZS 600 '98 owner W/pics :)

Based in Birmingham most of the year. I picked her up this Saturday just gone, very happy with her I must say...

Had a little niggle however since washing the bike yesterday, spluttering a little through the lower revs. I did come across your thread regarding the perished inlet pipes, as I discovered a large crack ran through all of mine. I've since used a repair silicone to seal up all that I can access and this has improved the matter somewhat. However I plan to inspect the air box at some point today to make sure I haven't filled it with water. Anybody else had any troubles after washing down?

Unfortunately the bike was sat for several months before i bought her so I'm expecting a few things to pop up now she'sin regular use again. Some autoglym polish has done the bodywork wonders mind you... More pics to follow this afternoon.

...but my god am I glad I got it.

Name's Carl and I'm from up north - the proper north, not the midlands.  8)

I got my FZS600 back in November 2008 and we've been through a lot together in that time, including a slide down the road in the snow and a Volvo T-Bone - it's alright though, my foot took the brunt of the impact so the only damage to my bike was a snapped clutch lever and a broken speedo. Bomb proof (except the rear caliper) I tells ye!  :lol
