  side stand removal (s2)
Posted by: tosh23 - 19-04-13, 01:44 AM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (6)

Im in the middle of a strip and clean before the season starts, everything is going a lot slower that I had planned, ( ocd ) anyhoo ..
The bike is on the centre stand, and I want to take off the side stand for painting, There is two big bolts with alen key and threadlocked..
There is also one large nut in the middle, Looking at it I was thinking that the two bolts ( alen key ) had something to do with the rear subframe or something like that..Can anyone confirm that removal of the two ( alen key ) bolts are just for the side stand and not connected or needed for anything else, I don't want to remove them and the whole bike falls down.....cheers tosh

Where have you mounted your tax disc?
Posted by: Streetbudgie - 18-04-13, 10:25 PM - Forum: General - Replies (18)

So where have you mounted yours?

For the last 11 years mine has been in a tax disc holder mounted on the exhaust can bracket, bit of a pain every year to unscrew all the little bolts but safe enough and no one has ever nicked it.

Just spent an hour in the garage trying to find somewhere to mount the tax disc holder on the FZ1 - can't find anywhere!

Well if you have not heard of Chas Davies, the current world supersport rider then you will if you watched the WSB at the weekend.

What a good ride by him, some bad luck to the others  helped him but he actually looked like he could have taken all comers.

And as for the BMW number one rider, Marc Melandri, he will be wondering, what the fuck???? :lol

Chas is a local lad up here on the herefordshire,Welsh  border, brought up with his own mini moto come gocart track, he has allways been riding bikes.

Makes it all the more fun to watch.

  Scratches

Today I removed the givi rack from my bike which I've been meaning to do for ages and fitted a new side panel in near perfect condition as the old one was damaged by someone. Everything was going fine, I noticed the rack had scratched the old panel that I was keeping on the other side pretty deeply so not sure what I'm going to do with that yet. Anyway stupidly I managed to get super glue on both the new and remaining panel just in front of where the grab rail mounts.  :'(

I tried to quickly get it off before it dried with a cloth but that just stuck a load of fibres to it and made it worse. I then used wd-40, soapy water and loads of elbow grease, eventually it came off with a small amount of carb cleaner and nail varnish remover. I knew this would damage the lacquer but couldn't have the mess that was on there left there. It's a very tiny area on each side and not really visible unless the bike is in shadow but it will really bug me if I don't try and sort it. I may just paint or replace the old panel anyway as it has deep scratches from where the rack has rubbed it over the years, but are there any products that will reduce the scratches in the lacquer of the new panel I put on today?

I've seen this topic, but that was on metal tanks and this is the plastic rear side fairings so will I need different products. I can take some photos tomorrow and the area is very small either side but will annoy me.

Am I right in thinking the Foxeye Fazer 600 only came in one blue? (Yeah, obviously red and yellow, but they didn't change the blue?)

Cheers,
Andy
