  Bridgestone BT016 vs BT016 PRO?
Posted by: Slaninar - 19-04-13, 06:37 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

Anyone tried and can tell me the difference?

Roads are very slippery in my country. Tyres last LONG, but they skid easily, so I'm looking for a sporty tyre for the FZS600. 16 pro seem perfect, but don't come in 110/70 dimension.

Any other recommendation? Metzeler M5 Sportec Interact seem nice, though pricey.

  Costa Coffee Moan
Posted by: bwizz - 19-04-13, 06:10 PM - Forum: General - Replies (10)

Anybody else noticed , the costa coffee francise is spreading like wildfire,  They only seemed to be in motorway services , and were easily avoided now they are cropping up in Tescos and hospitals
I wrote to Tesco's recently, pointing out that I was surprised that an otherwise good value store should have these outlets , They replied that £2.80 for a standard coffee was competive with prices in the area.
Whilst at a Asda strore I got talking to lady with two kids she said that she had previously always  had a meal and hot drink whilst out shopping at Tescos , since Costa took over she had switched to Asda. Not sure I am out of touch with the real world but I vote with my feet and wallet , by going elsewhere!
Another moan is price of fuel at motorway services 10p a litre more that local prices here in Cornwall

The left side headlight is pointing upwards and the adjustment screw is not doing its job. I can't see anything loose, nor can I hear anything rattling around but for the life of me I can't adjust the vertical positioning. The bulb also seems to have a fair bit of play in it; a tad wobbly if you will. It's an 01 boxeye.

What suggestions do you lovely foccers have?

  Front headlight unit question
Posted by: NotAnotherHill - 19-04-13, 04:17 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (36)

My 00 FZS 600 has just failed its MOT. The metal cylinder piece that sits around the main bulb has come away from the reflector housing at the top. It looks like the heat from the bulb (possibly non-standard) has caused the point where it joins to the reflector to become brittle and break.

A new unit costs a fortune and I can only find an 01 model unit second hand so far and even that's £95.

2 questions:

Is the 01 model headlight unit compatible with my 00 model?

If I bodge the current unit by trying to fix the detached cylinder piece by possibly gluing it in place, will the headlight unit still be able to adjust using the adjustment screws?

Any solutions welcomed.

  Fairing surgery
Posted by: Stedman8 - 19-04-13, 03:24 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (2)

I'm thinking of cutting the front fairing down - the bottom half maybe, has anyone done this - pics? And does anyone know the pitfalls and/or disasters that await me  Smile How much will it affect the handling etc.I dont want to cut it and then find its flapping around in the breeze - I dont really want to bugger around making new brackets for it and I was going to try and lift the clocks so that they sit a bit higher up - I'll probably have to make a new mount for them but I dont think that would be too difficult - unless someone knows better, any advice appreciated, cheers Steve

  Torque wrench
Posted by: elbrownos - 19-04-13, 02:33 PM - Forum: General - Replies (14)

I'm in the market for a torque wrench.
This one from Amazon looks pretty good
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0001K9T...item_title
It's cheap, gets good reviews and is simple.
My only concern is not having a ratchet mechanism, it might be impossible to use in tight spaces. What do you reckon?

Cheers

The things you see when you have a day off
Posted by: Streetbudgie - 19-04-13, 12:57 PM - Forum: General - Replies (12)

So far this morning I have seen school run mums use my front drive to park across and turn around in while dropping their spawn off to school.

I have seen the bloke from over the road walk his dog up and down the access road at the side of my house, pick up his dog shit (good) and promptly drop it in the curb outside my house (not good) - had I not been dripping wet and naked I would have been out like a shot, but by the time I threw something on he'd gone.

However on the way back into my house I saw another neighbour come out of his garage (he lives in the next road) walk to the end of the access road next to my house and dump a bag of rubbish on top of the poo bag.

Him I caught and told him to pick up his rubbish and dump it outside his own house to which he replied "it's rubbish from the alley, what am I supposed to do with it"  I replied "Put it in your bin just like I do, don't throw in the street outside my house"  He then goes to walk away so I picked it up and gave it to him and said "don't leave it or I'll report you"

After grumbling he toddles off and I go in, 10 mins later I go out and the bag of rubbish is back out in the street about 5 yards from my house!

So now I have reported one dog shitter and one fly tipper to the local council, I hope they both getting fucking fined, lazy bastards.

School run mums will be dealt with later...
