  Clutch isn't.
Posted by: Aegis Bearing Mel - 06-05-13, 11:14 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (6)

My clutch is being more of a clunge and refusing to do anything that it should do.

Last few weeks it's been really heavy, changing down has been an interesting experience and I've been forced to killswitch it at traffic lights as she wouldn't go into neutral.

After trying to adjust the cable 9one of Venhill's finest) I gave in and bought a cheap ass replacement from M&P.
Didn't make a blind bit of difference.
I then took off the actuator arm and re-aligned it, foc all.

Replacement EBC springs did a similar level of foc all.

Last but not least I replaced the friction plates, nada.

The only plate I couldn't swap out was the one that is behind the basket as I couldn't get the twatting bolt that holds the basket in place to shift.

I'm off out to have another play with the cable and see if I can get a bit more movement out of it, but does anyone have any suggestions as to what else may be wrong?

Hi all
Pick up my Fazer 6 on Wednesday. Just sold my old XJ900S Diversion for the Fazer and I can't wait to pick it up.

  Cleaning up 'dem oxidized forks!
Posted by: OutofFaze - 06-05-13, 09:01 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Hi guys,

I am new to the forum and you can read my intro here: http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,7626.0.html

I bought a Fazer just over a week ago and polished it up to look rather respectable, but wasn't satisfied with the oxidization on the forks. They looked like this before:

Yesterday I put 3+ hours of elbow grease into them with a combination of:

-metal dish scourer
-scotchbrite pad
-autosol

They look a lot better now. Not perfect, but I think i'd need to dismount them and get some machine assistance for a better finish. They are at least "glancebly good" now, and definitely acceptable for this summer!

Thanks for the guys on the intro thread for the info about this!

  Fan fuse blowing
Posted by: Hobgoblin - 06-05-13, 01:23 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Hi all,

Just been out for a great 225 miles around north Wales today and although the bike performed flawlessly I do have a slight recurring problem.
Once again the fan fuse has blown, although I doubt the engine got hot enough to turn it on as I was never stuck in traffic at all.
This has happened before, so I fitted a simple switch to over-ride the sensor just in case.
Now I'm not sure if its the sensor breaking down to earth ( I know its switching a positive to the motor ), or if it's the motor itself.
Has anyone else had a fan fuse problem on a 600 ?
Many thanks, your input would be most appreciated,
Keith.

  Gen 2 ABS Brakepad change
Posted by: Trossman - 05-05-13, 10:37 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

Never changed the front brake pads on an ABS bike (or car) before (2008 Fazer 1000)

Is there anything special I need to know or is it just as easy as non ABS?

Just getting a quote for insurance, I haven't had a pillion on a bike for over 10 years, but as I've just got a MT-01  as well as my FZ6 I thought I might so got a quote for both.................

If I carry a pillion the insurance was £9 LESS ????? this is not what I expected
