Just getting a quote for insurance, I haven't had a pillion on a bike for over 10 years, but as I've just got a MT-01 as well as my FZ6 I thought I might so got a quote for both.................
If I carry a pillion the insurance was £9 LESS ????? this is not what I expected

This is when you know insurance companies make it up. Seriously though its all done on statistics, less likely to crash with pillion so cheaper. But the computer doesn't realise that mostly you'll be on yer tod. Go for a good ride out and treat yourself to a burger with all the trimmings and a nice drink and say grace to your insurance company. :rollin

Do people get cheaper by using the online comparisons? i have been with Bennetts for years and in August on renewal i with have a look, i am currently paying way too much

I will always do a quick check on the price comparison sites just to see if my renewal is in the right ballpark. If the prices are about the same and I'm happy with my current insurer then I will usually stay with then.
I was originally with MCE and paid about £450~ for my first year - at renewal they magically wanted £600?! So I promptly switched to Bennetts for a much reduced £200~

I tend to check the comparison sites to find out who's cheapest and then try directly through the insurer. This year I renewed and it dropped down to £100 despite having had an (non-fault) accident

Damn right, I use the comparison sites as leverage when I renew. It saved me about 60 quid this year by negotiating on the phone. I got an online quote, then called my broker. All in for £75 this year, Woo-hoo!

I always check comparison sites first and I always phone them whenever I get a renewal because they always manage to chop a few quid off somehow, even though the letter says they have checked all the options and they have given me the cheapest quote... :rolleyes lying Wa*&ers.

I think you have to be as mercenary as they are. Have a look at the bike insurer web site they saved me some cash.

Ye, no loyalty amongst thieves! Having said that I've been with bennets since I passed my test a few years ago because they've always given me a good deal. I have to phone them when I get renewals though because they try and hike up the price but when you phone them they always find a way to make it cheaper again.

just got my renewal through : £222.55 from bennets Fully comp, Legal Expenses, RAC breakdown, Personal Accident and Helmet and Leathers.
Same as last year but the excess has gone up £50.
time to noise up the fat opera man and the meerkat!

Meerkat didn't work properly for me this year. 1 year no claims but licence for under a year made it throw a wobbly. Just had to say I'd had it a year for quotes, there's only 12 days in it though.

I frickin hate insurance companies, down right loathe them
4 non fault accidents in 5 years and because of other people's wank driving not only can I not get insurance on the bike I own and love (srad 750 which I now have to sell) but my premiums have shot through the roof!
I have a friend - 12 points on license yet will very easily and cheaply get insurance on a brand new blade, I have a clean license ffs!
A law unto themselves!

My son passed his driving test last year and his insurance is coming up for renewal, he has been shopping around and some companies will give him fully comp for £30 CHEAPER than tpft with exactly the same cover / excess etc!!!!!

This was mentioned on the Martin Lewis show a week or so ago. If you apply for Fully Comp you're seen as less of a risk, because (apparently) they think that you'd only go for TPFT if you thought you wouldn't get Fully Comp!

has anyone tried a multi bike policy......i tried last year to insure two bikes on the same policy only to be told that was too many for multi bike :lol
